Bought deep cycle lithium batteries for my off grid house. The 5 year old lead acid batteries are getting weak so I'm going to try lithium. More expensive up front but should be cheaper over the lifetime of the batteries. 35 years off grid so far.

I bought groceries yesterday. I can't believe the cost of groceries. I've been in AZ for 10 days, gone for groceries 3 times and have spent over $500. And the only meat in that is a couple packs of chicken and 2 lobster tails at $5 each.

McQueen, how sturdy are those benches? I'm thinking of redoing one of my workbenches to incorporate some flip sections for my bench grinders and milling equipment. Are they sturdy enough to hold a couple hundred pounds, or would I be better off building my own multi-purpose bench?

In prep for next July's local car show, I decided to once again, gut and go through the Husky. New plastics are on order as of this morning.

A friend of mine has one her son bought her. It's surprisingly sturdy. HFT lists a 600 pound workload.

I’ve got a couple of Honda CB engine up on my one right now - CB450 and a CB500. They’re plenty sturdy - and stable. Believe it or not, they’re popular in the sewing longarm community as a base onto which to mount a big-ass automated sewing machine, and by big-ass, I mean somewhere between a Grom and a Subaru.
Price performers. Good benches. If you have time, obviously, HF has sales often and coupons and this and that. But the regular price is… like, $180? I’m in Oregon, so, no sales tax.

Those Hondas made classic Scramblers. I clearly recall the CL pipe routing up high. Those 350 twins also lasted and lasted. I had a 450 DOHC twin, in green. It was durable and fun to ride. It was not the scrambler like the 350 was, but NICE.

I meant 450. It looked identical to this, but without the gaitor rips!:

At the time, I was looking for a Suzi GS850. But this showed up from an interesting young biker that said she wanted a Suzuki GS400 twin, and got one. I took this off her hands for a while, then found the 850!

Yep. My CL450 was put in a barn in 1979 when the then- and original owner and his also drunken buddy crashed it and cracked open and timing case cover, and while they laughed and kicked their wounds, let the engine run and the oil run out. And the owner parked it - out of embarrassment. And when he got cancer - years later - his widow called the friend and said, Ahem… remember that motorcycle? Come get it. And he moved it, and parked it, out of embarrassment. And then when he realized he was getting old and time was starting to run out… he let word trickle out that he had this thing.
It need work. Fortunately, I’ve found a CB500 engine that I think is solid and will be a replacement for now until I have time to rebuild the top end (2023 has suuuuuuucked) and then I can see what else the front end needs.

OH YEAH. That's the scrambler version. Same exact engine! NICE!

I found a ~1975 Supersport 400 in that same time period. The thing was spotless, paid $400 for it with pleasure... 6 gears and a redline at something north of 10k as I remember (10500?). Not a powerhouse by any means, but it sounded AWESOME with the stock 4 into 1, and looked the part with a narrow coffin fuel tank. Why did I sell it? Duh. It looked almost as nice as this one, and could have been made so. I think these were detuned and could have been enhanced to extract more hp without too much trouble.
