I sat on a GY-5 in the showroom the other day. I found the side panels dug into my inner thighs with my feet on the ground - pretty uncomfortable. The side panels on my GY-2 are more conventional.

Yes they do. I noticed it the 1st time I sat on mine and I liked it. Feels more sturdy to me, but that's just me.

I believe I read where the plastic on these bikes is ABS. I used Testers model airplane glue that said it was good for ABS or polystyrene on my Jetmoto 200 and it glued the cracks just fine. Cheap fix. Someone also told me that acetone will melt the plastic and they used it for rebuilding their plastic panels on bikes they couldn't get parts for anymore. Rob in Walla Walla, WASH

yep, thats the link to my project (thanks TheOtherRide)

30-Arider the task of making the panels is over half done.
I still havnt ordered or found the nylon locally (way to busy at work) but those are my templates that I will use and they will be dyed with RIT clothes dye for the blue color which will allow minor scatches that wont really show and nylon is fairly durable stuff.Nylon absorbs moisture and will soak up the dye water-it works well.

I've dyed nylon many times before for RC cars.

I sit way forward from riding motocross, my old lady has shined the paint towards the front of the side panels from riding on the back...
