Cool bike! I know nothing about trials bikes, are they all liquid cooled?

Those are awesome! My good friend has an early 90's Beta, and it's a terrific machine.

The seller of that bike should change his user name. I'm sure it's Crazy Big Al, but it can also be read as Crazy Bi Gal. 8O

Great fun.

I recently screwed around on a Montessa. They handle like a mountain goat. A guy can have a lot of fun on one of those at like 5 MPH. :P

That is something I what to try. I think most trials bikes are 2 stroke liquid cooled. At least modern designed models.

I guess with the low speeds that the trials bikes usually run the liquid cooling would be an asset, but why 2 stroke? Would I be correct in assuming it's to keep the weight as low as possible?

O God here goes...

Contray to the common beleif a 2 stroke will produce far
MORE bottom end power than a 4 stroke if it's tuned for it..
And far more top end power if it's tuned for it... But can not
be tuned for both at the same time.. A 4 stroke can put
out a good amount of both bottom & top end power at thr same time..

And a 2 stroke will rev LOWER than a 4 stroke of the same
cc puting out the same hp.. ( 2t sound as they are reving as they
are fireing twice as often)
Compaire the red lines off the 250 4T GSXR/ZXR/FZR around 17,000rpm
= 8,500 power strokes per minute..
to the 2T KR/TZR/RGV around 12,000 = 12,000 power strokes
per minute.... the 2 strokes are way faster..

Thanks for the explanation Pete :). As I said, I don't know anything about trials bikes, I was just guessing it was a weight thing.

The Montessa I rode was a 2 stroke, about 300cc. I have ridden a lot of 2 strokes, including the aforementioned RGV Gamma. Now there's a bike, but that's a different story...)

The Montessa was like a diesl. Strong grunt off the bottom a little midrange then flat. The opposite of what we usually think. Gearing may have something to do with it.

Think the bike yer rode would have been a Montessa 315 Cota ?

Now Montessa "Honda" do have a 4T trials bike .
Thats where the Honda TLM 2T trials bikes came from
in the 90s..

The new Ossa trials bike is fuel injected with the barrel turned
around... pipe out the rear & throtle body at the front..

The GasGas is still with in my prise range..but climbing , bugger it :( ..
