I just found a gy-5 at an IGA store about 25 miles from my house......

It has a disc rear brake which leads me to believe it is a 2006 model....

No one at the store had any info other than "what you see is what you get"

Or "the manager isn't here today"......

Is there any way to tell an America Lifan from a gray market??

Or is it just a different supply chain??

The price, assembled by who knows, was $1999.99......

seems a little steep to me.... :?

Is it new? Look at the stickers on the swingarm or get the vin#. I should also have like g20-5 on the sidecover and Lifan on the tank. I can be hard to distinguished a grey market. I bought my true American Lifan from a unauthorized dealer who was getting them from a American Lifan distributor.

Have you been able to contact American Lifan for a dealer? Also that price is way too much.

I got ahold of A.Lifan and found a dealer 150 miles away........
I called the dealer and the guy that knows anything about them will be back monday......

I do not know what they are selling for there.......

The 1999.99 one is new.....

But I doubt an IGA store will service it or carry parts......

Yes it is way too expensive....

Thanks for the info on the #'s.... :)

I would go for the dealer bike and get the 07 model probably for less than the asking price on the IGA bike. Rent a cargo van from enterprise and drive over and pick it up. You could do it all in a one day rental time. The dealer may have a 06 model he is needing to unload too that you can get a good deal on.

If you are in a stringent state the dealer is the way to go.

I should have my new MSO with the correct dealer number on Monday and hopefully will have it titled then.

Yes....
I think you are right about the dealer....
NY can be a bear for DMV issues....
Just wish I could get some hard info from the dealer.....

Oh well....I guess we all need a vacation now and then

The dealer is a well known large auto dealer in the area and the motorized toy part is his son's part of the business....

We shall see....

Give them another call on Monday and get some more details. The drive is probably worth it.

I got a hold of the local  America Lifan dealer.........

He said"Gee....I think they're legal.......I'd have to look at the title..." :?

$1500.00.......

Doesn't know if it's 06 or 07......

"Come on down and take a look..."

Ask him if he has sold any and if they have been registered? Might be able to get the name of a buyer and talk to them. If he doesn't know then he probably is not a very good dealer.
