Sometimes my GY-5 will magically shift itself out of netural. Usually goes into 2nd. Ever have this happen? It must get angry just idling, it wants to be ridden. I suppose it could be me not properly engaging neutral.

I would suggest avoiding women, lovingly maintaining it, and fondly calling it "Christine."

But I suppose someone will chime in here about some silly clutch adjustment... :P

Mine will hang slightly between 2nd and neutral, I can hear a slight clicking and feel a very very slight vibration in it, it so I know to play with the shifter a little. I have not tried to mess with it yet but I have gotten so used to it I don't think I will try to fix it.

And Christine is one kewl movie, I have it on VHS...But I don't have a vcr anymore 8O

AZ200 that is about the 5th problem that you've had with your bike, (that I've read) and I read it like I wrote it myself. I have a rotary, sometimes I shift down to what I think is N. But its a void. Nothing on the gear indicator. Clicking and vib the same. Here's one.

When I set out to ride, the shift to first is hard. Clunk/. 8O
For the rest of the day, even if I don't ride for hours, the shift to first is normal. Next morning, shift to first clunk/ N2r 150cc Xingyue(I think :D )

I never really looked at it as a problem  , Just how this bike acts. It shifts fine..But I have had that same clunk when it's cold :? . But I have had a lot of bikes that would hang between gears...But I have mostly ridden old 70's or early 80's bikes. So this is all normal to me. A problem to me is when something falls off or fails to work..SO no real problems so far ha ha. I really hope I don't come off like I am complaining..This 500.00 dollar bike has been a blast and has never failed me once..It is just quirky at times. I am actually getting kind of proud of my little mystery bike.

Yea, mine shifts fine too. Its just a minor quirk. Sometimes the shift pedal will freeze if I try downshifting more then twice without releasing the clutch. Once I let out the clutch it clicks down though. Its not a $6k jap bike, cant expect it to work like one.

The first shift of the day into first gear usually nets a large clunk, but even my ninja's and r6 did that (every time into first)

I have noticed the shifter getting better with miles, i have just about hit 1000km and it seems to be getting smoother with each passing week. I can now find neutral pretty well as opposed to searching for it each time.

My bike has once or twice popped out of first gear and hit neutral, but it may have been a fluke. No patterns with shift problems have really developed.

Quirk, yes thats what I meant to say. Don't get me wrong either, I love my bike. If I waited to buy Japanese, or American I would not be riding. I've had custom choppers pull up beside me, I could not stop laughing, they don't see my bike as a DS. :D They can't believe I have a licence plate. One guy sitting on a 100,000$ custom bike told me that, in the city we both hit the pavement at the same speed. They all ask "Is it fun?" I tell em all that it's like flying around the city driving a go-cart. I don't know if my next bike will be a china bike, but I'm not ruling it out. If I get 2 seasons of riding from this bike, city miles add up fast, I'm happy. If I get a 3rd season, even better. I don't want bigger, don't need faster. No one can take away my licence or the course I took($425) My whole riding experience is my chinabike. Just wish I could find another china rider in Toronto. :(

thats how i feel about riding the china bike, people always get snobby if i tell them what it is before they see it, but if they see it and ask me, they are always like wow.. that thing is pretty darn cool! how much? Wow, that thing is pretty darn cheap... Where can i get one?

I always laugh because there is a guy around my way with a 200cc yamaha dual sport and i always just think about how much more he spent for less bike IMHO.

All bikes, Cars, trucks, Heck even toasters do some strange things once in a while. I am not fooling myself that this bike is not without it flaws..I Just can't say that I care. I paid very little for it so I don't expect much. So the longer it lasts and the better it does the more pleased I am. Eventually this bike will die a horrible death...But it will still be the bike that my daughter and I rode on for the first time..It will still be the bike that got me back in the saddle. Dang that was kinda deep

around my way people dont care what make it is as long as it has 2 wheels and a motor that is all that matters, i went riding with my old nieghbor the past weekend and we had a blast. he has a dr200. i know they are more ds around my way but no china bike, 2-dr200, 1-kawisaki ds(dont know size), and a honda ds (dont know the size) i like ridin with other ds it lot more funner cause no one is goin to take off and leave you sittin in the dust, now if only the place i bought my ds from or the company who makes it, but either way they need to know what thread lock is cause i have had so many bolts come loose but besides that they really aint that much i can complain about

I have a custom cycle shop at the top of my street. Big money bikes. They buy harleys and kreators and re do them. 30,000$ and up. But in toronto, a 10 yr old street worthy honda 250 anything is 4,500$. I don't know why, but you can get the same year honda car for a 1000$ less.
