Went out for a ride at the weekend, as the roads were rather narrow and twisty my pace was not as brisk as usual. Managed 103 mpg (imperial) or 87 mpg (US), I always thought with a bit of restraint 100 mpg would be possible.

on my last fill up with 91 octane gas, i managed to get 140 miles (after i converted from km) without hitting reserve or actually being all that low on gas, i just figured since the gas was fairly low, i would fill up.(especially after reading everyones posts about their reserve going like a mile or so)
I put almost 2 gallons of gas back into the bike. So that would be about 70ish mpg (US)
I honestly think i could get much more out of it, i romp on it pretty hard. Plus i tend to do a lot of stop and go riding. I think a country cruise at 45-55 mph would net me well into the 90's or 100's.
These things are great on gas, but i think i would like to have about 4-6 more hp and a mpg of 50 mpg... that would be about perfect.
Does anyone know if the 250cc viva dirtbike motors will fit into the gy chassis?

I was thinking the same on the 250, but waiting for a lifan. My 200 is enough for now and its primary duty is to get me good mileage.

75mpg consistently to work and around town.

I get almost 80 around town, 70 out on the highway, but if I have a head wind, figure on 60. I'm still geared a little low, but the thing won't pull a strong headwind more'n 55 mph leaned over. The bike will hit about 60+ max.
I feel if I gear the thing any taller, it won't be good off road, won't have a low enough first gear, and off road is 70 percent of why I bought it, to use down at my place in the mud since I sold the 4x4. I have a 50 mpg SV650 and that's enough, though at 80+ it's more like 45 mpg. :? It'll hit fifty if I keep the speeds down to 60-65. Heck, that's good, but then you figure my wife's Toyota Echo gets 40..... :?
It's nice to have a bike that can get 80 mpg around town, though, I gotta admit.

I've been averaging right around 70mpg, & that is with a one size larger main & the needle up the whole way. And like tzrider, I can get maybe 65 mph max, 55 in a strong headwind, & hills are embarrassing.

Basically it's a stock 250 (223cc), the carb needle is on it's higest notch, it was already up a notch as stock. I cleaned up a very lumpy weld just inside the front pipe and the tail pipe outlet has a larger hole. Over the weekend my average speed was 40-50mph rather than my usual 50-60mph, fuel consumption is usually 90-95mpg (imperial) and has never dropped below 90 since I put it on the road. I think I have the gearing slightly high I'm using 17/42, it cruises very happily at 60mph, which was the intention and a max of 70 on the flat, give it a slight down hill and it's up to 80mph.
I'd stick my neck out and say that a 250 motor will drop straight into a 125/200 frame. All the electrics and running gear seem to be identical.
