I did the needle clip adjustment on my carb tonight. i did it without taking the carb out. Just took the gas tank off and pulled out the inner housing and removed the throttle cable. It all it only took 20 mins and my bike idles consistent at about 3500rpm. I found the adjustment screw a little inconsistent and I think I will order a Mikuni carb when i have some time. does anyone know what rpm is best for this bike to idle at? Im sure once it is on the road a few rides will make the engine happy again. Engine case was also a bit hot after idling for a while is this normal? Doing a proper oil change tomorrow. Thanks all for the help! I think Im starting to click in the mechanical Dept.

i have my needle set so that if i touch the throttle it does not "stick" and so that when i start it its not clumsy while idling.

I'm only guessing (because I don't trust any of my old tachs), but I'd say that your idle is twice what it should be. The Mikuni will be a pleasure to work with.

I just set the idle for the slowest smooth speed.
