I bought a Acerbis Diamond Headlight http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=10816&department=661&division=6
to replace a cracked headlight on my 200GY-5 only problem is it only has low beams so I can't pass a safety inspection for the military base I work at.

Can't you wire it so the one bulb comes on for low and both come on for high? And maybe find a hotter bulb for the one side? They are going to inspect it in the daylight so they really can't see how bright it is.

That's a good idea. I'm going to give that a try tonight and see if I can pass inspection tomorrow. Thanks

I ended up wiring 2 of the lights to ignition hot wire and the third light I ran to the high beam wire on the light control. This give the appearance that there is a "high" setting. I hope it works...

Careful with how many watts you are using. If your lights are pulling from the battery your will probably be okay, but if it runs of the stator you may want to disconnect one of the main lights for the low beam.
It has yet to be determine how many watts the stator can handle.

well I have two 15 watt lights pulling from the battery and one 20 watt pulling from the stator. I figure this load will be fine since the 20 watt light on the stator will only be used in "high beam" situations. The sun is finally going down here so I'm going to align the lights in a few minutes then I'm off for a ride to see how the whole thing lines up. if everything works out I'll post a picture of it in the morning.

That is a total of 50watts. You should be fine. I was thinking it had two 35w bulbs. You need the two wired together to ride at night.
Did it pass inspection?

Everything worked out pretty well actually. Thanks for the advise on the wiring, it was able to pass inspection today and the lights work a lot better than the stock ones. I'm thinking about heading out today and trying to find some stronger bulbs to replace the 20 watt ones. Now that I have this working I don't need to trade the headlight anymore.
