You all may recall I've been debating using a Chinese CT70 clone as ground transportation to carry in my plane. I raised the question on the Maule forum and it started a good thread, and some members added pics of their airplanes with small Chinese motorcycles in the back.

Worth a look. :D

Looks like a CT will fit. To save weight you can strip it down to just the bare essentials. Should be able to find 10lbs that can go.

It would be easy to convert the CT seat with some type of quick pin, making removal really fast. As well, you could swap out the exhaust for an aluminum can and Chinese header (which is really thin). You could swap the signals for tiny LED units and even make a fiberglass seat pan if you wanted. Plenty of opportunity to make it lighter.

Good ideas.

Sure is. I'm used to it but don't get it. Don't want to.

A set of high rise ATV bars would be more comfortable, and if they're aluminum, they'll likely be lighter. After that, you can be like the old hot rodders, and "add lightening". Perforate every piece of steel that can stand a few holes.

The plane can carry it OK. I have a useful load of 1000 lbs. So Linda and I, 50 lbs of (Linda's) luggage, a 150 lb cycle, and 400 lbs of fuel no problem.

Lifting that bike into the back is another story...

The Maule is designed to haul. 4 doors and easily removable back seat.
