I screwed up. Can use some advise...

I needed new 606's on the KLX. I took the wheeels off and brought them to Andy for M&B. I'm tired of busting my knuckles and I have a friend with a machine so why bother?

I wrapped them in towels and put them in the passeger seat of my car, the only place for them as this car has no storage or trunk of any kind. I could have used my Ranger but I like driving my car...

Despite my precautions the disc brake rotor cut my inner door panel. A new panel is $500!

I wonder if this can be repaired? Do those home vinyl repair kits work?

Later today I will bring it to a upholsterer to see if they can help.

I don't remember the exact year of your car, but ebay is your friend in this department.

Good lead. I found a few panels there in perfect condition for $200. I also found a guy who does vinyl repair for the local dealerships. The salespeople who recommend him says he does perfect work, an artist. I may have him look at it when I contact him.

It may be an inexpensive repair.

try the vinyl repair first.....my mothers chevy truck got a bottle thrown threw the rear slider window and broke on the dash resulting in a nasty cut and the vinyl split away....we thought that we would have to have the whole thing replaced but local guy did the repair and you couldn't tell when we got it back.

I can echo those comments. My Dad used to do vinyl repair years ago, and the repair would virtually disappear.

I recommend a trailer hitch on your 'Vette, so you can pull a utility trailer for such things.

I will call the local vinyl repair guy again today. He does work for some of the better used car dealerships in town and has rave reviews. He did not call me back yesterday...

A hitch for the car would be GREAT. My Gold WIng has a bigger luggage capacity. Seriously. A little utility trailer would allow me to use it for vacations. Linda is medically incapable of packing light.

I'd even use it to pull the bikes.

I'm glad you found a good vinyl repair man, Doc. :)

P.S. It would have been less expensive to change the tires yourself. ;)

I have identified a repairman, but was told he does not like to do work for private individuals, only dealerships. He has not returned my two calls yet.

If I don't hear from him by today on Monday I'll have a patient of mine, who has a dealership, call him.

I was just kidding, Bill. :P I hope I didn't offend you. :?

Good luck with pursuing the dealership route. :)

No offense at all. :P

I could have kicked myself for this, if I thought it would help.

I could have saved money taking my pickup....

Andy has a touchless mounting and balance machine, he checks my spokes, and saves my tubes. He does this just to be nice. Who am I to deny my friend the chance to be nice?

I'm glad I didn't offend you, Doc. As with many others, I appreciate all your helpful, informative, and interesting posts. :)

Indeed, it would be rude to refuse your friend Andy the opportunity to bless you in this manner. ;)

I was kidding, but you make it sound like a good idea. http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-1996_Chevrolet_Corvette.htm It's a Class I, so it would barely show, once you removed the ball mount from the receiver.

I don't know if the car would have enough power.

I doubt it would be able to pull Roger's and my dirt bikes much over 160 MPH.

Better check the trailer bearings.
