So, we're building this 2006 Roketa DB-07A, and we're concurrently building an '81 XR200 twin-shock bike for Son of Weldangrind's buddy. Both bikes are stripped to the frame, and that's when it hit me...

They're almost exactly the same! The overall length and width are very similar, as is the steering angle. The motor mounts obviously accept the same motor, but the upper rear mount on the Roketa is narrower, so the Honda spacers are not required. The Roketa monoshock swingarm and the Honda dual-shock swingarm are interchangeable at the pivot point, and only the upper mono shock mount on the Roketa separates them. In fact, if I welded the mono shock mount into the Honda frame, it would accept the longer Roketa swingarm.

Some other observations:

One could equip an older XR200 with the monoshock mount, Hondoid China swingarm and China USD forks to create a pseudo-XR200R.
Since the dual shock mounts are still present on the Roketa (even thought it's a mono shock), it could be converted to an old-school twin shock. With matching short forks, it would have a low seat height for vertically-challenged riders.
With some minor mods, a Hondoid China bike could be made to look like an XR200 or XR200R on the street.
The Roketa uses the twin-shock mounts to secure the heavy duty rear rack.

As if I didn't have enough mad scientist thoughts in my head, I now have a much broader ability to customize the Hondas and China bikes. Hmmm...

Very interesting!

The Chinese do their best work copying, rather than engineering. The XR200 is one of the best trail bikes ever made, and a worthy bike to copy.

The twin shock setup lends itself to a cafe bike well too. I kinda like the old school look.

You just touched on my next project. ;)

I agree on all points. ;)
