Today was our annual airshow at our local airport.

The big even is a program called Young Eagles. It's a program to give airplane rides and logbooks to children for free.

I flew 8 'missions' with 3 kids each. It was fun and rewarding but I am wiped out. There were 18 pilots flying, and for each pilot 2-3 people on the ground volunteering. It was a big event.

There were planes from all over Washington, and some cool local military vehicles, including one of my favorites, the DKW.

1923 Waco biplane. NINETY years and no one has made any machine more beautiful than this super-classic. With 450 HP it is very fast too.

1928 Boeing 404 (I think). This was the first passenger cabinplane in the world, and this is the oldest flying Boeing in the world. Based in Spokane.

Great pictures!

About 2 miles from my place is a small airport from where the Junkers JU52 is flying occasionally over the summer months. This thing looks so slow, you think it will fall from the sky in a second. The sound of the three BMW nine cylinder engines is great. A real pleasure to watch it fly over my house.
The guys own four JU52, all with swiss markings. Two of them painted with advertisement for aluminium suitcases...

Lovely plane and lovely pictures.

It ippears to share a similar design with the Ford Tri-Motor.

The Ford also uses a corrugated aluminum skin. Very light and strong but some induced parasitic drag.

Both planes are known for remakable short field and slow flight ability.

I love the 1923 Waco and the 1928 Boeing 404. :) The Waco was manufactured a mere six years after WWI! Just look how far aviation technology had advanced in six years.

Love the Duck!

I like that military utility trailer as well; they're popular with Land Cruiser guys.

Awesome event and beautiful pics! I particularly love the old military vehicles, olive drab is one of my favorite colors! The planes are gorgeous as well

Heres a link to the video from the news coverage of the event. Don't worry, no pics of doc (although Clif is no looker...) LOL!

You will recognize the yellow wing though ;-) I took the reporter/cameraman on the media flight.

You're a good guy for taking those kids up, Doc. They'll remember that always.
