New face, New Diamo 200LS!

Well... new to me,

This is my first post here. I have been creeping for several days though. Yesterday I purchased a 2005 Diamo 200LS. I will post some pictures of it here. Overall I feel the bike is very clean but it does need a few things. I have several questions if you guys would be able to help answer them it would be greatly appreciated.

I have searched the forum but have been unable to determine what makes GY2 and GY5 bikes different.. I assume this Diamo is a GY2 as the body kit looks like other bikes that I have seen identified as GY2.

Furthermore, I see the "zong's" are generally accepted to be some of the higher quality 200cc enduro chinabikes. Where does Diamo rate amongst these if you will? Is the engine a Lifan engine? Is it the OHC variety? Anything in general I should know about the Diamo brand? Is it junk?

Before my ride today I changed the oil in the bike and tightened the bolts I could see- all of which were tight. I put 50 miles in today between 55mph routes and 5mph creeping on no winter maintenance roads. The Diamo didn't miss a beat and I am happy with my purchase thus far.

Your Diamo is a Honda clone, and it is a good motorcycle. I believe I spied an automatic, cam chain tensioner, so your bike has an overhead cam engine. The engine might have been manufactured by Zongshen, but it's hard to tell. It doesn't make much difference, since all of the Chinese, Honda cloned engines are generally very reliable. :tup: I'm sure you will continue to enjoy your bike very much. Welcome. You bike is more of a GY2 type. Pretty common.

So far so good. It has 1200 miles on it now after the 70 or so I have put on it. The only things I have noticed so far is that when left in my garage it smells like gas and I fear it is a gas cap issue? There are no leaking fluids. The other is that it seems to start hard after sitting over night. I am not sure what could cause this. The starter fires up no problem. Any insight here?

It could just be gas draining from the carburetor. The bowl has a drain in case it overfills.

Mine will seep fuel/vaper from the cap if very full. I've had the needle/seat stick open when some junk ran through the carb as well, which caused the carb to overflow while shut off in the shop. A quick carb removal and cleaning fixed the problem. Mine starts easy when cold but is a bit troublesome when hot. I've also raised the needle one notch to richen the main and that seems to have made the motor happier on the road. With no marks on the pilot or needle jet its tough to figure where to go on jetting. Not that I have had any luck finding alternative jets anyway!

Comfortable saddle, sturdy carrying rack, front and rear discs, conventional forks and an OHC (Honda XR200 style) engine. Nice bike.
