3rd attempt!

Last 2 attempt ended with no battery and blackness on phone just before post.

Anyway this is an Tms offroad 50cc project.

Engine is replaced with 230cc pushrod 167fmm engine.
Tires are 140/18 rear and 110/18 front.
Its like running a wave kinda.

Carb replaced and it has baotian 6pin Cdi now.
Most wiring is remade after a mess with anycolor and ducktape solution.
Some paint job and replaced cheap parts that does Not vibrate or has loose parts in them.

It runs very very nice, really impressed by engine after adjusting everything!
Starts every morning same sec you hit start button and idle is really stable and can be very low.

Made my own exaust of stainless steel cuz thats something i work with on work.
It made the biggest difference in performance.
Before it would pull good up to 4000rpm, after it pulls all way to 7000 i guess.
Stock exaust has some wierd catalysator...amazingly bad idea.

Found an cheap Koso Rx2n multi tacometer that i will try mount this evening.http://www.chinariders.net/picture.php?albumid=68&pictureid=345

With a bit unlegal scooter then i least want to hold correct speed on a few cuz of police.
Might be good, will update if anyone cares later.
Just something to spend a few hours on in life and then move on to next idea, that can be a boat or computer or whatever i stumple upon.

And much more..

Very cool! May we please see a close-up of the exhaust?

I would like to learn more about the tach. Do you have a link for it?

Did you lace the front rim yourself?

excellent looking bike! :clap:colour scheme + style are great without being over the top, ie still practical.

do you have a front view and link for the double headlights? which carb a you running?
how wide is your header pipe? is your muffler unrestricted or do you have a baffle plate or silencer?
would also like to know more about the tach and how you wire it.

how much does the tms 50 weigh originally? yours could be quite a rocket.

Rims are stock. Painted with black can and striped with red tape. Then
clear finish is sprayed on.
Im from Sweden and dont know all words ;)
Exaust is 33mm and i used the plate and first piece "30mm or so" from stock exaust.
The catalysator made the engine and exaust very hot.

Will update with more. Pics. There are a few in album.
Need a new holder for tach. I hate the look.

Wiring koso will take time. It show speed with magnet sensor and
gears and alot more. Also oiltemp watertemp etc.

See www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ78LGLTxac&feature=youtube_gdata_player for tach.

Wow, $400 is a little steep for my Scottish China-riding heart. Nice gauge though.

I tried to click on your vid, but it said it was private.

They offer the RX2-N for about 350$, shipping to the US included.

The RX1-N has almost the same features for about 290$, shipping included.

After a 26hour shift on work and vacation i finally got to wire the rest and mount sensor.
Sensor i just cut some plastic and drilled 2 holes and then some glue on it.

Gearing was wrong since before, N light had no wire so i had to install new one.
Everything works now, gonna see if oil temp sensor is expensive.

Also want a fuel sensor in tank so i know when i need gas.
Also changed the gauge ones more, im never really satisfied.

Nice job! Do you still have a main switch and placed it somewhere else?
I ask because i got almost the same job to do. New instruments, you know... ;). My main switch might be in the way.

matasar

yes the key is behind it and reachable. but it would be nice to move key somewhere else.

It tried running upwars in soft sand today..it just worked its way forward until top.
Front tire was awesome, its just ran above sand so steering was no problem.
Gotta do that again!!

Also use very little air in frontire, makes riding on asfalt alot nicer.

I just discovered pictures from the TMS Offroad50 in stock condition. Man, you did a great job. Your bike looks much better than stock, amazing difference.

You told us that you changed the 50cc engine to a 250cc. Did you need to change the frame mounting adapters also? And where did you get the 250cc engine from?

matasar
07-31-2013, 03:25 AM
i bought it stock but with an atv engine on it that was running terrible.
it fits right upon ram, same holes so i guess its some chinese atv.
i worked on it for some time yes, about 1 month some hour here and there.
i checked everything many times and replaced bolts and such also to be safe riding.

I can only repeat: Great job!
What a difference in appearance these fat knobby tires make. Seems like a completely different bike.

Did i understand right, the bike had an ATV engine with 50cc? And with a reverse gear? :wtf: Crazy idea.
Or was it already a 250cc ATV engine?

matasar
07-31-2013, 10:03 AM
those tires are not fun on asfalt first!
but in wood and sand and such its very fun.

it first had an 4stroke 50cc.
but it brooke, they all did before cuz of some shift gear axle made with wrong metal.
so an 250 167fmm pushrod was mounted and fitted into same holes.
its actually 230cc on paper, runs very smooth and no problems at all.

changed cdi to one from baotian that had manual setting on timing advance.
took me about 1 week to find why it was dying at full throttle.
replaced and mixed stators, pickup, cdi and checked all wiring and carb.
had 20 pappers printed on chinese electric system and wiring..

but problem was that main jet were to big ;)

sprocket was difficult, had to find something lookalike and lathe centrum and drill it.
went from 52 to 36 back.
rpm 5000 at 80km/h i think.
guess it makes 120 max..tires take alot of power
no reverse i think but not sure, do they have electric security or something ?

tecnolli

Ah, i think i fixed my misunderstanding. The 167fmm engines exist in at least two different versions, first with 5-speed gearbox for bikes, and second with 4-speed plus reverse for ATVs. To complete our confusion the chinese didn't change the engine codes.
My Skyteam Cobra with vertical cylinder (might be the same engine as your stock 50cc) is named 139FMA-2. The same code is used for chinese copies of Honda Dax or Monkey with a horizontal cylinder. :ohno:

But nice to know that the 230cc engine dropped right in.

Wow, $400 is a little steep for my Scottish China-riding heart. Nice gauge though.

How about a China gage to go with your China-riding heart?
