Guys. Looking for a 1" 36" long axle. Hubs, sprockets, belt torque convertor. I am building from scratch so length of axle is approximate.

I think I will buy a new harbor frieght predator, but if a cheap engine arrives would be interested in that too.

Would also like some of the plastic bucket seats seen on alot of the Chinese buggies.

If you can get creative with lock collars and tractor hubs you can go to your local garage door company and ask for a piece of one inch keyed shaft, cut it down to length and use stop collars instead of go cart specific stuff... Thats what i did (i happen to work in a garage door company...LOL easy acess to parts...)

Is that found on the commercial doors? My neighbor in GA installed garage doors, but only residential stuff. Nothing that had a 1" shaft. (I scrapped the old stuff.)

Yep... The residential torsion setups use a 1" hollow tube, the heavy commercial stuff uses a 1" keyed shaft...

To find a garage door place. I will have to look in the yellow pages. Not many out here.

I went down to the maintenance shop. Those doors have the 1 inch keyed shaft.

Would I be able to talk you into shipping me about 40 inches? Maintenance guy said not much for local door places. 40 plus mile drive.

Hmm... Not sure exactly how to ship a shaft like that, and the shortest length i can buy it is about 6ft... I will look into it, but shipping that stuff isnt gonna be cheap... Its pretty heavy stuff...

I think I will just get the one from BMI karts. It is the best price I have found. Going past one of the door places today.

Thanks for the idea though.

Kelvinator. I will get ahold of you about the coupon.

Do you need to use a torque converter? They're spendy, and centrifugal clutches are often rebuildable.

I don't have too use a torque convertor. That is one of those parts that may be optional. They have knockoffs that run about $100. Good clutches can run almost that much.

If you find a $100 knock-off, please send me a link. BTW, perhaps Bogieboy has some parts for sale.

I wish i did...LOL All my spare parts went into building my go cart...only stuff i still have are a set of spare hubs that my buddy has been bugging me about, but havent had time to show him to see if they.would work for his build...

If the hubs don't work let me know.

Weld, here is the link. They have auction style listings too. I have seen them go in the $95 range.

I wasn't able to stop at the garage door place yesterday. We are going to check some of the parts combines at the farm. John Deere may have used something that will work.

Promptly saved that in my watch list. Thanks!

The reviews are good on the knockoffs too. The good clutches cost the same and I think a belt is better suited for a yard kart.

Will do! To make them work on a standard go cart axle will need a bit of ingenuity, as they are designed for having like a retainer clip and spacer setup on them instead of like a go cart hub has a turn down for a 3/4" nut at the end...

At some point I am going to build a minibike using a 3.5hp tecumseh that I have on a garden tiller. I think that I have enough random stuff to build it except for the clutch.

I can tell you from experience that it's much easier to start with a minibike frame, rather than to build one. They show up on our local CL every week for cheap. I could always ship on to you if you like.

I never see them on craigslist here. If you see a very cheap one let me know. Rural Kansas and Oklahoma seems to not be to up on using craigslist.
