View Full Version : Know Anything About Refrigerators?

Mrs. C and I did sort of an impulse buy on a new fridge Saturday. We were looking to replace our current one, but found a great deal on a 32 cu. ft. Samsung. Anyway, it appears that the only it will fit through the front door is if the doors are removed from the fridge. Anyone got an idea on how big a job that is?
My other option is to unload it from the deliver truck onto my flatbed trailer, truck it around to the back yard, dump it out on the deck and take apart the sliding glass patio doors. From there, it's a slide to the right and it's in place.
So the other question would be, how big a PITA is it to dismantle the sliding doors? Bear in mind that I have no patience for working on houses.

fridge doors are easy if its the older style look at top of fridge for a triangle steel piece should be 2 to 3 bolts. pop that off and the door comes off however the pain is to readjust it after removing it so that it seals properly. also wait up to 12hrs to plug it in after you move it so that the freon settles.

It took me about 5 minutes to remove the doors on my fridge.

I've only removed fridge doors to flip them around, but it was cake. X2 on letting the freon settle.

Why shouldn't I be surprised that the first response would be from a guy with the handle of 'kelvinator'.:)
It's a brand new fridge, French doors with a 10 cu. ft bottom drawer freezer. My concern with removing the doors is the in-door ice maker/dispenser and fancy electronics in the doors. If just the freezer drawer can be removed, then it can be squeezed through the front door by opening the French doors and fancy foot work. :D
It should be here in couple more hours. Will update if it turns out to be fiasco or not.

Whew, got it in through the patio doors. Took me a hour just to figure out how to get the first patio door off, then it got harder. I even went back to my office to get our little flat bed trailer to haul the fridge to the back yard. The delivery guys nixed the trailer and CARRIED:wtf: it to the back yard, across the deck, and into the kitchen. I decided then and there to tip them well. I sure as hell wasn't going to stiff 'em after seeing that.
Anyway, here it is, complete with finger prints.

And, this is what was packed so tightly in the old fridge.:wtf:

I could put another deer in here.:yay: I think we may be able to transfer the entire contents of our chest freezer into this one and retire it.
After the delivery guys got it in place and squared away, I did some R&R on the sliding patio doors. Didn't realize how wanting they were until I put them back together.
As I'm getting the knee cut tomorrow, I'm looking forward to the output of the dual ice makers.:hi:
And :thanks: for all the advice.

It made sense why it would be too difficult to 'simply' remove the doors once you mentioned how fancy it was, LOL.
Good luck on your surgery, and yes, the ice should come in very handy!

There is much room in there for adult beverages. According to TurboT, you need to make sure that you don't overload the freezer drawer, or else stuff will fall in behind when you open it. It is apparently a frustrating matter when that happens.
Good luck under the scalpel tomorrow.
