This is our first attempt at video, so it is lousy but I though you all may enjoy. Very very short clips. The first one is me filming Roger from behind through a section with sagebrush, the second is him filming me from in front down one of the only areas in that section of desert with a developed trail. We got up to 70 MPH there.

Hopefully our video skills will improve with practice ;-)

looks like some fun riding in the first video! how is your camera mounted? seems very shaky in the first one.

It is helmet mounted. I was standing but the terrain there was very rough.

Hopefully we will learn how to better use the camera and software to improve our videos. You make excellent videos, WA.

This place we ride is so immense and the terrain is very varied. From sand dunes to juniper 'forests', to open sparsely distributed desert grassy areas and some pretty good sized hills. I hope to be able to capture a bit of the feel for the place to share with you all.

I see, my camera doesn't have any shake reduction and I thought the go pros might. seems odd that you get such a shaky video from it. Its not mounted on the visor is it? maybe one of the mount adjustment screws is loose or has play, or the buffers are missing from the housing letting the camera bounce around?

Also youtube has its shaky camera reduction option when uploading, I strongly recommend against it, one video I said sure ill try it, ended up removing the video and re uploading it messed the video up so bad, hardly helped the shaking either.

The camera was mounted on an adhesive plate stuck to the top of the helmet. Maybe it was bouncing in its housing. The little thumbscrew was tight I know that.

Perhaps it was 'zoomed' and amplified the shaking? I don't know if these cameras zoom.

did the video look like that before uploading? the more I look at it the more i think it might have been at least part youtubes fault.

I dont think go pros zoom unless something has changed recently. but youtubes anti shake will zoom it in a little so that when it is being "smoothed" the content doesn't leave the frame causing black bars to pop up along the sides.

Don't know. Roger did all the work, all I did was wear the camera a little.

That looks like a fantastic area for dirt bikes. Thanks for the videos.

Some more pics of the area from this thread a couple of days ago, plus several other of my ride reports ;-)

I just did the math. It's 20-30 square miles. That's a lot of area to have all to yourself. Except the occasional coyote, fox, deer, elk, cow, horse. Or, as it turns out, alpaca.

Plus it borders on Juniper Dunes Wilderness Area, with about another 60 square miles of open riding area, with extensive sand trails and sand dunes. High horsepower and a paddle tire recommended there.

Very cool! I'm certain your skill with the camera will increase over time, as long as you keep having fun!

Great videos! I wish we had terrain like that here--ours is all made-for-ATV-sand or sandier.

We are heading out today, but a different area. Today will be more rocks, hills, and open terrain, with a generous helping of gravel/dirt roads and 60 MPH speeds.
