Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone was interested in hosting a podcast with me. I wanted to do a china-bike-centric podcast. I am looking for at least one other host. While I love ClevelandMoto, The Pace, The Wheelnerds, Cafe Racer Podcast, and one or two others, I feel the market could use the perspective of "cheaper" (for lack of a better description) China/Malaysian/Taiwanese/etc motorcycles. Versatility is a good cornerstone, as well as affordability, and I think it deserves a highlight.
Potential ideas to integrate into the podcast:
"MotorTrend" style reviews of models and other products
Ride reports from hosts and Forum Members
Background information on Brands, Vendors, and dealers
Tech-tips for repairs and/or Mods
Customization options and/or host recommendations/pipe-dreams
Custom/regular/vintage motorcycle spotlight
Anyone interested?

What kind of equipment, and how fast an internet connection do you need to do a podcast?

A decent quality mic and a decent internet connection in order to run Skype or equivalent program. I will do the recording and editing. :)

I often wondered about this...is the sector big enough? Low end Jap bikes would be good in the mix TW, XT, Sherpa - they all have a pretty big following.

I imagine so. There's no current coverage of "our" demographic that I can find. I've been searching for one, but never found one. Most of the podcasts like the one I want to do are heavily sponsored by big companies, and not focused on the low-end of the monetary spectrum.

Would this mean that I would need to own a pod device?

Negative, podcasts can be subscribed to via RSS feeds as well as iPods or other media devices.

I download podcasts to my laptop and my Playbook. It can be anything with an internet connection.

I haven't listened to any Motorcycle based podcasts so I have no idea what would be successful. I think that if you could put your finger on the cultural aspects of the owners of the particular group your targeting then you would be on a winner.
For example, over on the TW forums, they all tend to be a bit older - 40-50 and up. They like simplicity, economy, and similar issues around their bikes. Problem is that these bikes have long model runs with very little in the way of updates so you might find you run out of material to report on the technical side although there is a bit happening with the Chinese stuff I guess.
Good luck!

That's why I hoped to add ride reports, test rides, and covering some other "Asian" imports. (Jap Bikes, India Bikes, Etc.) Add to that Possible convention stuff (If I can afford such things), and other odds-and-ends.
Thoughts?

I find plenty to ramble about on my AG200 blog (http://www.ag200central.com), and I haven't started with ride reports yet! I might also add that it's a bike that most of the world didn't get so I'd say if you combined all of this motorcycling constituency, you will get a good following.
