Fork oil on 2006 Lifan 150

Riding my bike around I notice when I apply the front brakes the front end dips drastically. So process and recommandations on changing the fork oil? I Hope there is a bleeder valve to make this task easy, and what type of oil should I use or recommend for this type of bike.

In general I do the following,

1. Lift front end

2. Remove front wheel

3. Loosen up fork caps a bit while still in triple clamps

4. Loosen up triple clamp bolts both on upper and lower triple clamps

5. Take out forks

6. Remove caps with one hand while holding it with the other, because the spring is pushing it hard from underneath

7. Take out spring and spacer bushing (if any) and wipe them

8. Pour out old oil in a pan (and measure it if you want)

9. Pour in some diesel or kerosine in the tube, compress it a few times to wash away more of the old oil, and pour it out

10. Compress the fork and put the wiped spring back in

11. Pour in new oil (or ATF, or other hydraulic fluid) at least until it covers the spring

12. Compress the fork a few times to distribute the oil in all cavities inside

13. Check oil level and top up

14. Put the spaces bushing back and screw in the cap

15. Install the forks back in the clamps

16. Install the front wheel

17. Lower front end

18. Clean up all empty beer and soda bottles around the garage :D

There could be variations of the procedure depending on fork model, but nothing significant. And I doubt yours are very high-tech.

Fork oil type (and amount) is controversial and subject of discussions at least as much as the engine oil!

I believe those procedures are for conventional forks, and they're well written. If you have inverted (or USD) forks, I recommend that you follow the procedure that Spud created: http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=10266
