Gas cap suggestions

Since my gas cap screams "I get my lunch money stolen daily" I want to ditch it. Do I have enough room to put aviation type filler on it?

Sounds like a challenge. At least with steel, you could weld sheetmetal over the hole and then locate the flip-top wherever you wish.
