I took them from my truck at 55 mph. This guy keeps his plane in this building which from what I can tell has a living space too. Located next to a grass strip which I think is perfect for a maule.

That's awesome! What a great place to come home too. I bet there's some cool projects and tools in there too. Thanks for sharing Kato:-)

That is cool! That's the weird thing about me. I don't like climbing ladders, but I'm not afraid to fly. Hopefully I can back my way into a kit experimental before I check out.

Not weird at all. I'm the same.
Our fear is rational. It is not a fear of heights per se but the fear of falling off an edge.
I hate working on my roof. 15,000 over Mt. Hood, no problem.

In the US, NC was the site of the first powered airplane flight.
The airplane itself was invented in OH.
But KANSAS has been the home of American aviation ever since.

my mom used to live next to a pvt air strip. there were several of those hanger/homes on that strip. there was one older guy that was retired AA captain that had one there and i used to cut the grass for him. he had 3 planes in it. 1 was a modern 4 seat plane and 2 were antiques. one of the antiques was an old bi wing job.. he would fly it to air shows.
the living quarters was pretty nice too. once he had me over to his home to do some work there. holy crap! his main home was a lake home and was beautiful! he had a small garage on stilts on lake with an old antique ski boat which had an inboard v8. of course it was lifted out of water when not in use.
he never got married and didn't have kids. that was back in 83/84, i sometimes wonder if he is still around and what happened to his properties. he was sittin pretty for sure.
there are a few hanger/homes round here too, i like em. if i had the scratch i would tear down my old crappy house and build one. it would go nice with my pole barn.

and once one of his pilot buddies came over while i was cutting grass and they decided to go up for a bit.. asked me to join... SURE! we flew his 4 seater and them guys were having fun trying to get me to shat my pants! did a pretty good job too, he had that thing on it's side in turns a few times.
it was big fun... but dang, i never had a flight like that before. :wtf:

'He never got married and didn't have kids.'
Yup. That is a good way to save money ;-)

I'm so glad they took you. I would ALWAYS offer to take an interested person for a ride if there was a spare seat. But I would never try and show off or make them stress.

he started out easy and kept checking with me to make sure i wasn't freakin out. it was fun, it's just that i had never been in a plane like that. small and quick... i could feel every move.
he was also a flight instructor and was always training people. i had total confidence in him.
he started up his ol bi wing for me once. that thing was so cool. wish i had a camera back then.

I am not sure what kind of plane is in there. Looks similar to Doc's, I usually see other toys in the yard and driveway too.
As for the ladders. I don't mind a few ffeet, but I really don't like to fly either.

The neighbors on the other end of the runway have a couple of planes too in a barn. One is a Bi plane that I saw out one day. This is located about 5 miles from Cessna.

'He never got married and didn't have kids.'
Yup. That is an ideal way to maintain wealth ;-)
With all respect, there are alternate definitions of wealth.

ABSOLUTELY
In retrospect, not a bright statement on my part. I will modify/retract my post.

Not necessary to retract your statement. We're entitled to an opinion / perspective. You pointed out the Paul says we're not all intended to marry; he even referred to singleness as a gift.

Also correct.
I meant no insensitivity or disrespect, I'm sure you and others know that...
I typed my original statement, since improved, with some bad memories somehow activated. Usually I keep them locked in their dark little closet.

There are blessings both ways. We just have to step back and see them.
Not to hijack the thread or anything. Yes, I'm foul mouthed, aggressive and just about to snap most days. But I'm saved. By no means am I perfect. But The Lord put me in a spot in my life to use my talents.
