What do you all think?

Honda was the first to introduce an airbag on the Gold Wing but I think Ducati's system is superior.

What do you all think, is this going to be something we see in the future or a technological dead end?

I put my vote into it catching on and helping save lives and limbs.

Automotive airbags were thousands of dollars as an option back in the 70's and 80's, and with the economy of scale became very inexpensive and even the cheapest little cars have them.

It is interesting all the feedback on the blog so far is negative.

Interesting, indeed. I'd love to fall on a cushion of air, should I ever be expelled from my bike.

i can see how it owuld help, but theres a vast number of questions that have been raised by the "naysayers" over there... how reliable is it really going to be... what if a bike near you crashes...is yours gonna go off too? another one in my mind... how often would you have to charge or replace the batteries in the coat? it needs power... how effective would it be if its always dead... and how much of a nuisance will it get to be having to plug in a battery tender for your riding gear after every ride?

i think its a good idea, but the tech isnt necessarily there yet for this to be a viable option...

I would love to see this technology proven to be reliable. :) However, I wouldn't want to be one of the 'early adopters' (guinea pigs). ;)

I figure Ducati has the proven technology to create a safe reliable usable semi-affordable production motorcycle that runs over 200 MPH right out of the dealership (Paningale R) They can probably do this.

The Gold Wing Airbag models have been in production for several years with no failures to deploy or inappropriate deployment.
