I think it might be down for good...the guy who started it, Carl Parker, was a member here, known as 'Crazy Carl.' He had a few ideas for this site, but the owner at the time, 'Frostbite' would have none of it, and he started mychinamoto. At the time, Carl was a newer motorcycle enthusiast who had moved to China. At that time, bikes were a dime a dozen in China, and many members who joined mychina were ex-pats from Europe and North America.
Fast forward a few years, bikes were being scooped up by Chinese authorities due to pollution, and many members became cynical of the entire Chinese industry. Carl has been long gone from China and now resides in Virginia. He is the chief editor of a dual-sport online/print magazine (it was advertised on mychinamoto and the name slips my mind), so perhaps mychinamoto may still have some interest for Carl for its advertising potential. I have his personal email from 5 or 6 years ago, so hopefully he still answers it. I would hate to see it go away completely...I would hate to have a bunch of cynical, Chinabike hating Euro expats who live in China joining here!!

I just tried linking to mychinamoto.com, and I received a message that the domain name has expired. This is not a good sign. :ohno: If Carl intends to keep the website running, he will renew the domain name very quickly, probably within 48 hours. If several days pass without action, the forum is probably gone, which is unfortunate.

Yes, in spite of my cynicism, it is a good site

I've pulled some good tech from that site, but my luck has been much better here.

Hopefully we might be able to get the forum info at least. There was many threads I had bookmarked for reference.

Be a shame if it is gone but what can be done to save it?

Mychinamoto is back up! Apparently Carl forgot to pay the fee for the domain name. ;) The same thing happened here several years ago when Frostbite forgot to pay the fee on time. :hehe:

I emailed Carl, and he thought it was hacked (maybe he was embarrassed to admit he did not pay the fee, LOL) but said it was back up. I come here first, however, which is why I am here, writing this post rather than on mychinamoto!
