hello chaps, I'm about to take the plunge and buy a himo gy200,

my question is really, are all the gy200 bikes the same bar the plastics?

fingers crossed I win it :)

For the most part yes.

Some minor differences but for the most part similar and interchangeable.

Notable exceptions in Chinese 200cc bikes are the OHC Yamaha based Zongshens and Suzuki based Q-Link/SSR motorcycles.

Other than that, they are mostly based on a 125cc OHV Honda and they are all good.

Welcome; we are glad you joined us. :hi:

Do you have a photograph or website link you can share with us to help us identify the bike? I'm fairly confident all the GY200 motorcycles are pretty much the same, but it's always nice to verify this fact with a photo. ;)

Some have drum rear brakes, some disc. Some have USD forks, some conventional. Differences like that.

Thanks for posting the link. :) Yes, that's a standard, Chinese GY200 with a clone of a Honda engine. ;) Good luck with the bidding.

My Zongshen 200GY-2 has a copy of a Yamaha TW200 engine. The Himo GY200 has a copy of a Honda engine, which is common for most Chinese GY motorcycles. ;) All of the Chinese engines will perform well, and last a very long time, as long as you change the engine oil frequently, and periodically adjust the valve lash. :)

If you win the bid, we will gladly help you learn how to service, maintain, and repair your Chinese motorcycle. ;)

Thanks Spud, I'm more than happy with spanners etc and building off road trucks but I was offered a 125 a while ago and it peaked my interest, your thread of your zong also didn't help!

I fancy the himo 200 or a zong supermoto :)

You have the China Rider spirit, and you will feel right at home on these forums. :)

If you can find a Zongshen 200GY-2, such as mine, it will be a great little motorcycle for you. However, the Zong's unconventional wheel sizes make it difficult, if not impossible, to find knobby tires. In contrast, the standard wheels of the Himo GY200 will easily allow you to find many suitable, knobby tires if you wish to ride off road. ;)

Stuntman may have better luck on the other side of the pond finding D/S tires in a 15 inch size, although even is D/S tires can be found, the performance or 18 (or 19) and 21 inch wheels can't be beat.
