Currently i have a tao tao 50cc scooter. Me and my fiancé fit on it but it is a tight fit and really dont see more more than 25 mph and it struggles on hills. I am selling it tomorrow and looking to get a 150cc. I need it to be able to handle two people on it. Most Chinese scooters that are 150cc seem to be about 1300-1600 dollars. I recently found a local place that is getting in tao tao bsw 150cc scooters and will sell them for 900. Why are they so much cheaper? They look nice but seem to have a smaller frame. Any help on what i should get?

Tao Tao are supposed to be decent scooters, and $900 is a good price, especially if you are not buying it online and do not have to pay shipping.
I know this distributor personally www.atv4usa.com 909-591-8800 who distribute a few other brands of scooters, but also can get hold of Tao Tao scooters which are not advertised on their site. They do mail order and sell retail, but I would definitely check out the Tao Tao in person, since you have a retailer nearby. I have gotten hold of a Lintex branded BWS 50 scooter for a friend through atv4usa and it is kind of small, but not tiny (I am assuming the Tao Tao is near identical in body size to the BWS 150), as far as carrying two people. I have ridden the 50cc BWS after assembling it, and really like the handling characteristics due to the more aggressive tires.
In fact, check out this video from a retailer/mail-order place out of Texas, Killer Motorsports, which shows the Tao Tao BWS 150 and see if it looks big enough. It looks just like the 50cc I got for my friend, but appears to have far more power...

The thing is if it is the same size as my 50cc Tao Tao we don't fit comfortably enough. I may have to buy a used 150cc just because they are much bigger in size

it may be cheaper because it was left over from last year? the hobby shop here in town had a few models left from last year and were selling them for around the same price to get rid of them before this years stock came in.
