Hi folks. I'm getting ready to order a TMEC 200 from Excalibur and I was thinking of ordering some spare parts for the bike just in case they are hard to get. I am considering getting brake pads, throttle cable, speedo cable etc. Does anyone have any suggestions of other things I should procure? Thanks!

There is a relay under the seat that has gone out on my old '09 TMEC which aids in starting the bike via the electric starter (the kick starter worked for a few days while waiting for the part) and a CDI couldn't hurt (I never had an issue with my '09's CDI, and it still works since I use my old bike for spares), but for some weird reason, my '13 TMEC's CDI went out (and I got it started right away with the '09's!), and ordered two CDIs for backup. Clutch cable can't hurt just because once they are worn out, you have one ready rather than waiting for a new one to arrive, and a speedo cable is good to have as backup.
Keep in mind, I commute daily on my bike 12 months a year, and count on the bike, and hate having to ask coworkers for rides while waiting for parts (very infrequently with my '09 TMEC) so if you are not planning to do so, you can probably forgo any of the spare parts, but it is not like it would 'hurt' to have them around, either. Excalibur is good for spares, saving you having to search around, but if you really needed or wanted to ride, such as a holiday weekend, and something had gone out, it would be nice not only to not have to wait around for a relatively cheap part, but it won't ruin your weekend, either!

When I bought mine I new that I had planned to keep it for its life so I bought a couple sets of brake pads from Wade. They are all over eBay also and there only seems to be two different types offered on the Chinese bikes. I am not sure that I would buy to many spares as when something goes bad you might as well replace it with something of real quality. Plastics might be something to consider though as those will be impossible to find in the future.

Here is a little hijack, but relevant to the TMEC as far as parts are concerned. JT Sprockets JTR1134.54, JTR1134.52, JTR1134.50, and JTR1134.48 are apparently the only commercially available aftermarket sprockets for the TMEC. Besides ordering through JT Sprocket's US headquarters, I found this retailer out of the UK far easier:
http://www.urbanbike.co.uk/
They have the JTR1134 in stock--http://www.urbanbike.co.uk/jtr113454-rear-sprocket-6129-p.asp and http://www.urbanbike.co.uk/jtr113448-rear-sprocket-1655-p.asp (they don't seem to carry the 52 or 50 tooth versions)
I wouldn't even bother with the 54, and it is more expensive to boot! The 48 cost me about $45 taking the exchange rate and shipping into account, which was less than when I had Rebel Gears make me a 40 tooth (way too high gearing with that one!).

I do need those on the rear--thanks for the reminder ;)

I agree with the others. I would get spare cables, plastic, and a spare CDI unit. ;)
