I ran across this pic of a Zongshen ZS150-6 V. Interesting rear suspension design that I've never seen. Could this be to carry fat mother-in-laws?

That is the 3/4 ton model.

Consider the loads that these bikes carry. Livestock, farm produce, whole families. We all know that the Chinese build the strongest rear racks.

That is a reasonable explanation; I reached the same conclusion. ;) I did a little research, and it appears this bike does have 4 shock absorbers.

It's still odd. As well, the shocks would be fighting one another during suspension articulation, since they don't follow the same arc. Kind of like how tandem axles fight each other in tight turns.

I agree. It would be much wiser to use two larger shocks, rather than four shocks.

Maybe Zongshen got a killer deal on a box car load of light duty shocks and needed to get rid of them.

I keep looking for another photograph of that bike with two shocks, but I can't find one. ;)

I am thinking its a "one size fits all" solution.

I think this bike is a great bargain. :) Remove one shock from each side of the bike, and you have two spare shock absorbers.

:hehe:

Or, you could make two pogo sticks.
