Hola Chineros, I was sufing on the web for a new bike and found a Tekken 250 cc sold in Mexico for around $2,000. I think the shipping would cost me around another $500. I like that bike mucho! I still intend to ride down that way one of these months before the heat kicks in this way. I have been commuting on my bike 53 kms a day, so the bike should have no problemo getting to there. When do you think you will be getting your new bike?

Not sure, I would like to get it on my dob (July) but I still have to make some payments to my cc. I haven´t call to vendor to ask about shipping but i will sometime this week (I am a rangeland research specialist and am busy writting two projects for grants).

can you really buy a new bike in Mexico, and ship it to the US?

I am guessing no since any bike coming to the US (permanently) needs to be EPA/DOT certified. I live on the US/Mexico border and there are people who commute daily to the US to work in Mexican plated cars and bikes; I know there are people who indefinitely 'borrow' Mexican plated vehicles while living in the US for months.
In fact, I know a prominent Mexican dentist whose practice treats snowbirds in Algodones, Mexico for 7 months out of the year who lives in Yuma and drives a Mexican plated pickup. Not sure how he does it, but I guess if one lived on the border and had some connections to Mexico, could do it. But that is getting complicated.
It is probably safe to say, in general--no.
