Is it time for a clutch

Hello China riders

Is it time to replace my clutch ? :(

Speaking about my 2001 ttr 225

Lately my bikes been a pain to shift. Stiff shifter and seems like it's "clunking" into gear.

At first I thought I was due for an oil change. So I did that
Used rotella 10w40 this time

At first I thought it was good but was still a hard shift.

Then I started thinking the clutch was slipping. But thought maybe it was just spinning the tire. I had my brother ride behind me and we were fairly certain it was just spinning.

But it still dident feel right.
So today
We were on a little stretch of pavment so I held front brake slightly and cracked on it in 3rd going fairly slow. She revved right up :(

So now my question
Do I need a clutch ?

Do I replace just friction disks

I don't really want to open it up just to inspect it. Rather open it up and fix the problem if there is one.

I'm still going to ride it for the time being. I'll just go easy on er lol

If the TTR225 is like the TTR250 clutch there could be an adjustment screw
in the pressure plate... if thats not right the clutch will slip or not disengauge totaly...

Replace both friction & steel... steels maybe warped...
toss a set of EBC heavy springs in it while yer in there..

Looked into it a bit afte reading your post.
Might have to look into that.

My lever has similar symptoms only engaging in the last 25% of releasing lever.

Think I'll need a clutch cover gasket or should it come apart ok ?
Probably luck if the draw lol

i would have a gasket ready to go... 50/50 call if it rips or not...

My Zongshen ZS200GY-2 has the same Yamaha engine block as your TT-R225 and the TW200. My Zong and the TW200 both have the clutch adjustment screw on the clutch cover. :)

I agree with Pete. I would definitely purchase a gasket for the right crankcase cover. ;)
