For anyone who isn't sure they want to get one shipped to them, or anyone who's just curious, here are some pics of the process:

First, here's the box. That's me checking the paperwork.uncrate1.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3568&stc=1&d=1444094029)

Here's our first peek and the good stuff inside:uncrate2.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3569&stc=1&d=1444094029)

This is a well-packed unit...the big staples hold but come out easy.uncrate3.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3570&stc=1&d=1444094029)

The wooden "hoops" attach to the pallet with screws. They come off next.uncrate4.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3571&stc=1&d=1444094029)

Here are the keys, zip-tied to the handlebars:uncrate5.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3572&stc=1&d=1444094029)

Next up, more fun in the parking lot!

The crate features a useful front wheel chock arrangement...knock the board off the front and the bike just rolls forward and off the pallet:uncrate6.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3573&stc=1&d=1444094568)

Then, the preflight check: oil, coolant, brake fluid, chain adjustment, tire pressure, add fuel...uncrate6.1.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3574&stc=1&d=1444094568)

Final checks and put on the gear...uncrate7.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3575&stc=1&d=1444094568)

Annnd...ENJOY!uncrate8.JPG (http://www.chinariders.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3576&stc=1&d=1444094783)

I haven't uncrated a new machine for a few years; I miss that experience.

Nice bike! Thanks for the pics.

Congrats Mckayprod! And ditto on the thanks for posting the photos. I think CSC has really done a great job with making the bike almost ride-ready as soon as you break down the shipping container. Safe travels and let us know your thoughts on the bike!

Thanks for the kind words. I know I lost a little sleep worrying about the uncrate/setup process and wanted to help anyone else in that frame of mind.

This bike is a lot of fun so far; I expect I'll have more good (and bad) to say as I break it in...only 87 miles on it now.

mckayprod, Wow, congrat's and "Cool Beans" for you :yay:. You folks are lucky, buy a new bike and get free wood to recycle and make some cool tables or work bench with.

I'd love to get one of those! My finances, however, say no right now. . . :(

Nice looking bike, Danimal! And way to go on the factory options out-of-the-box.

I am getting a 2018 RX-3 (price was right) this coming week.
Is the un-crating process still the same as these 3+ year old pictures?
Any best practices for un-crating from recent buyers?

Thanks in advance!

No secret to un-boxing. I used a razor to cut the cardboard and needed a claw hammer to pull out the staples. If you are careful you can save the straps for use later. Installing the windscreen is a bit of a PITA, the nuts for the lower screws are a challenge. I ended up cutting away part of the plastic 'ears' so I have better access to those nuts. You will see what I mean when you install the windscreen.

For some reason I don't recall wood under the box--mine came with a steel frame instead. If memory serves, steel straps had to be cut to lift off the cardboard box, then the steel frame had to be unbolted. I don't recall mine being so thoroughly assembled, either, so maybe the system shown here is the newer, easier to unpack version. Really, not much to it either way. Just be sure to tighten and Loctite everything and double check all the fluids before starting it up. I went ahead and changed the oil to a dino motorcycle type for break in--you never know what comes in anything these days.

Thanks @pyoungbl and @sqwert!
I ordered some Loctite per the advice given here.
I did find a CSC video (https://www.cscmotorcycles.com/we-make-it-easy--maintenance-tutorials) that suggests removing the headlight in order to install the windscreen, and another titled "RX3 Fasteners to Focus On", hopefully those will help as well.

I recently removed and reinstalled the windscreen. Minor annoyance, but not that terrible. I used an angled box end wrench to hold and position the nuts. They are shouldered, so they stay in the wrench. You need the type that has an angle to the head, not a flat wrench.
