Anyone help me with what this connector is? Just above engine, below seat. Red connector.

If anyone can me what its for? Or the name of that kind of connector? I have the UK model so I'm hoping this would be an accessory power cable. Thanks

I "Think" that is for hooking up diagnostic for the fuel injection....but I'm not sure..

From the circuit diagrams it appears to be the power supply for a fuel cut off solenoid.
For some reason this and the " tip over sensor " were never fitted. :hmm:

Shame really, would have been a nice to have :)

Hello Katflap, thanks for that. Do you have any tips for the UK model? I've just got one second hand. Only 3000 miles. Seems great so far. It has cut out a few times when coming to a stop, don't know if it just wasn't warmed up. Have you had any issues? Spare parts seem to be a bit of an issue here...

I suggest you adjust the valve lash. I doubt the previous owner ever adjusted the valve lash, and it is long overdue. ;) Whenever the bike stalls while coming to a stop, I know the valves are tight.

Quert,
as the UK & US RX3 are very similar, my main tip would be to read as much as you have time for here. Thanks to all the members contributions on this forum it is an absolute gold mine of tips and information. Your in the right place
Also check out CSC tutorials on their website.

Regarding the stalling issue -

This is the only annoying "bug" of an otherwise great bike.
For me this only happens when the bike is not fully warm in cold weather. Totally fine in the summer.

To minimize this, as spud has already said, definately check your valve tappet gaps also make sure the oil level isn't too high.

let the bike warm up to at least 1 bar on the temp guage before setting off or just keep the revs up when coming to a stop until fully warm.

I notice that if its idling at 1500rpm and dipping below, its going to stall soon. When its at 1500rpm and spiking above then its fine.

If its being particulary difficult you could try -

turn the ignition of by the key
wait 15 secs
turn the key on/off 5 times within 4-5 seconds (you should hear the fuel pump each time)
wait 15 secs
then switch on again.

According to the rx3 chinese forums, this resets the ECU to default and restarts the "learning" process.

Regarding spare parts -

The support for the RX3 in the UK is very dissapointing but not totally unexpected. There are only 24 registered in the UK.

The CSC site is good and easy to use
http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/OEM-Replacement-Parts-s/102.htm

Also direct from China using a taobao agent (see spuds great post on this)

When ordering remember there are a few differences between the bike versions. Two that come to mind are the rear sprocket and the rear brake pads.

A non OEM rear sprocket replacement is the JTR 897 44T (this needs replacment bolts with countersunk heads)

rear brake pads -

I sent an email with a photo and dimensions of the pads to the guys at www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk (http://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk). within a few days they had replied with a match (brilliant service).

http://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/partno_BP037K.php

I now have these pads. though i have yet to fit them they match the originals well and i think they should be fine. :)

Neil, is this You? If so, glad you came aboard. If it's not Neil, still glad you are here.

Jay, Guilty as Charged! Thanks for the pointer. And thanks katflap for all that info, I ordered some EBC rear pads but not sure if they are correct. FA496 I think? I'll get the valves checked, get it serviced and hopefully sort the stalling. After that the main priority is to get an aux power cable installed. Nothing fancy just a USB port somewhere to plug sat nav/phone.

Regarding the bike so far I've had nothing but praise from non-bikers. Seasoned bikers have a huge curiosity but seem fearful of admitting they like a Chinese bike which is pretty sad really. I myself love it, especially for the price.

I see from your IP address you are located nears Portsmouth, Southhampton.

In the United States, the rear brake pads are EBC FA496.

When you have time, I suggest you peruse the RX3 Tech Sticky, which is permanently pinned to the top of this forum. ;)

This is the Circuit Diagram I use for fixing TheZong :lmao:, I need to track down the reason mine wouldn't start when out in the back country finding kids. :hmm:

I had stopped to take a few pic in this Brgy. 16 km from Dingle and 5 km from my next kid, this is way out in the back country and it wouldn't restart, dead in the water :hmm:, I think I found the short and did get going again but decided to head home, just in case.

Do you know how to read the trouble codes from the engine warning light? When did you last adjust the valve lash?

Spud, are you asking me that, if so, I'm not sure the Carb model has the same trouble code ability, so then if your asking me, the answer would be "no".

I don't think it's a Zong thing, I think it may be from one of the many add on and rewire things I did. I usually do a good job when wiring, I strip the wires, clean them and spread the strands a bit and twist together, solider, heat shrink and then elect. tape; just need the time to take it apart again and back track everything.

But if you have a better idea, please share.

My goodness, I had a sudden lapse of memory. :hehe: I forgot your bike has a carburetor, instead of EFI. ;)

However, tight valves will definitely cause starting problems. ;) When was the last time you adjusted the valve lash?

Spud, I adj. valves a few hundred kilometers ago, it's not that, it was total "DEAD", no power at all, no dash lights, no head lights, no nothing. After disconnecting the batt. for about ten min. (a trick I remember from my Range Rover and Bronco II days), and taping that short, it started. I'm just concerned about going back out into "no-where land" until I go over everything.

Just have to use the YBR tomorrow, I wont be able to do TheZone before.

I hope you diagnose, and solve the problem quickly, amigo. ;)

We have received several bad batteries in the United States. I suggest you check the voltage in all 6 cells of the battery.
