I'm very interested in the RX3, but am wondering if it would be comfortable enough for riding two up with my wife? I weigh about 160 lb. and she weighs around 130 lb. Has anyone done any all day rides two up on it? Also am looking at the KLR 650 New Edition. Currently have a DL650 V-Strom.

Truthfully, unless you are talking medium speed country roads, two-up will be working it pretty hard. You will definitely want to lower the gearing just so the little 1/4 liter isn't struggling.

Also not sure how comfortable your wife will be in the pillion position. Where are you located? Perhaps you can connect with someone near you who own one.

By the way, this Cyclone is fun, but no powerhorse like the Suzuki Cyclone.

Some of the riders I know of weigh almost as much as both of you combined and they really like the RX3. I think you would have a lot of fun two up on it. But you will slow down on the hills and you won't have tons of reserve power like your vstrom.

More importantly for all day riding is the seat. Definitely get one of the comfort seats from CSC.

Would use it for riding secondary roads at a leisurely pace. We are both 60, so not worried about speed. Wanting something lighter for exploring the back roads of Arkansas.

I weigh @280 and it pulls me along just fine. You'll want the 13T front sprocket.

As long as the seats comfortable for both of you it should be fine.

Welcome, TM400J!

Is your screen name a reference to Suzuki?

I remember those bikes as well, the old Cyclone MX.

Howdy TM400J,
I'll start out saying I weigh 170, and my wife about 130, and we have ridden 2-up on it, and she was comfortable...I added the 13 tooth front sprocket, which really helped on the hills.
It is a "Little" more cramped than riding 2-up on my NC700X, but not bad.
I think you and your wife would be fine on it for secondary roads, enjoying the scenery....I know the wife and I do :)

Thanks for the information. We've tried back rode riding on my XR250L Honda, but it's just too cramped. How much more room does the seat have than the XL and how much less than the V-Strom? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Could someone measure seat length, seat to peg distance for the operator and the passenger for me? I would much appreciate any help. I bought a 1972 TM400J Suzuki new, rode and raced it for 6 years. Tough to ride on a track, but a real hoot for doing wheelies at will in all 5 gears!

Thanks for the confirmation. I'd love to get my hands on an old TM or TS 400. I currently have a '79 TS250, and I love it.

I used to own a 650 V-Strom....the Cyclone RX-3 is not as roomy as the V-Strom, but it is more roomy than my XT250, which is probably close to your XR250....

Sorry I missed this thread earlier. I weigh 175-ish, and my wife might hit 125 after Thanksgiving dinner. We ride on secondary paved roads around here, and the day we did 20 miles on the RX3 she told me it had more room to move around, and was more comfortable than my old BMW K100RT. That really surprised me, since that's a long-distance bike and we've done 500-mile days on it. It sounds to me like you and yours will like this bike just fine.
