ive been wondering for some time about my 250 for some time now. Pulls hard right from idle 860-950 but seems to rev limit at like 45-4600rpm. not a huge deal because of the gearing but seems like 8000 is the normal. I do have an aftermarket cid on it. maybe wrong one? idk. also starts and runs perfect. just the limit I'm asking about. Thanks for the help

I'd follow with another question; how do you know what the RPM is accurate? My tach lied to me, so I dumped it.

ive pulled the tach and used it on a few other of my quads just to measure idle and all seem to be in the same ballpark. I guess it could be faulty but I did just buy it for this fact. just never sounded to rev out as high as my other CG200s

4500 RPM has got to be wrong along with the low idle speed. Should idle about 1500 and have peak horsepower about 8000. The CG250 (171FMM) engine in my quad has good low RPM power but vibrates more than my CG200 (163fml, 167fml) engines at high RPM.

Any chance you have a tach made for an engine that fires the spark every second rotation rather than every rotation?

That's very possible! I'll definitely look into that today! I'm also going to try and ride my other quad with a cg200 full out with my tach today. That quad screams so I'll definitely know if it's off a bunch.

You're so smart! I doubt I ever would have thought of that. I'm glad you're here.

I'm looking forward to your comparison, since it should be apples to apples.

Hello... I bought a unlimited cdi from ebay .. the revs where un limited.. so they said... but remember.. you need extra fuel to go to the limit.. maybe increase your jets.... if you tach is right try that..
