I called Steve yesterday afternoon and put my deposit down on a Red RX3 with Explorer package so I could get in on the free shipping deal. I have my TW200 and my Goldwing up for sale (both listed on Maine Craigslist) and was hoping to buy another bike only after making room for the RX3. But I am cheap and opted to save money instead the 2016 is going up in price and I am saving shipping cost.
I may end up leaving her in the crate and storing her at my business until the end of Feb. if I can wait that long :D

I will finalize things with Steve today.

Keith I think you'll be quite happy with the RX3. Good that you got free shipping in the deal. Did they mention what the 2016 price was going up too?

It will either be $3695 or $3895, he was not sure yet. There will be a silver color added also.

I hope they include free shipping as standard with those new prices. Seems you can get 1000 dollar snowblowers shipped for free or riding lawnmowers that cost far less than the RX3 and weigh as much or more.

Adding 600 dollars to 3900 plus the assembly fee probably would have been to steep for me to bite for mine. That's 4500-4700 before tax which is kind of a leap as good as the bike is. With free shipping it would still be a good deal however.

So the reason I ended up choosing red is I just purchased this a little over a month ago.

The Red RX3 will match

The shipping to Maine was going to be $425.00 even if they raise the price a couple hundred it is still a good price.

Congrats Keithmaine! Great color choice and compliment to your beautiful Mini. And you've got a great eye... I didn't notice the similarities the CSC logo has to the Mini logo!

So... do you really think you're going to keep the RX-3 crated-up all winter? Definitely good to make headway on the Ural restoration (love those!) but if it were me, I'd be tempted to at least look... or sit... or ride... :p

I will keep it crated as long as I can hold out, because it will push me to get my project done. Once complete I will have room to bring her home.
The Ural in pieces takes up a lot of garage space.

Trust me being an American mfg. company I am taking a hit from one my partners. I had to show him that his beloved Duramax diesel is owned in part by Isuzu. And then point out the many China made parts on the vehicle. His theory is if he does know it is from China it's okay. He will not shop at Walmart because of this yet sends his wife there to buy stuff. :hmm:

I am a realist it is a world market, we will keep fighting the government restrictions that keep us from being competitive with many of these countries. The only way for a small mfg. to compete is to adapt, improvise, and overcome. :grr:

Thanks Spud,
I have been lurking for quite awhile... Was almost going to get a hold of you to check out your bike before we moved from Moscow a few months ago. Now, I live in Reno and am contemplating heading to Sacramento this weekend to check out the RX3 at the bike show. Two years ago, the wife gave me OFFICIAL permission to get an Africa Twin IF it made it to the states. Now that it is coming here, I am thinking she's a bit big for what I want to do...that's why I am looking seriously at the RX3.

I don't know if it has changed, but in the past (in FL) when I have purchased a motorcycle from out of state, I needed to bring it to the DMV and a sheriff's deputy would check the vin number to see if it matched the paperwork before a license plate would be issued.

Next week I'll find out if that is still true.

Yes, we need to get a VIN check in Idaho, also. However, after we pay the $5 fee, the police will come to your residence to perform the VIN check. I was finishing the assembly of my RX3 when the cop showed up, and filled out the VIN paperwork.

After finishing assembly, I took the VIN form, and the rest of the paperwork to the DMV. Ten minutes after arriving, I walked out with my license plate and registration papers. A week later the title arrived in the mail. ;)

Yes it had a small hole in the box, but was well away from any part of the bike.
I removed it off the pallet as after removal of the cardboard and wood supports the pallet integrity had suffered. All is well as I might have a buyer soon for the TW. As you can see I installed the top case and I will put the windshield in place today. It came in with a half tank of fuel I topped it off, checked the oil, turned the key, depressed the start button and she purred like a kitten. let her warm up (it was 34 degrees) and took her for a spin around the parking lot. Today some how my helmet and a license plate were in my car this morning (wonder how they got there) ;)

I have to still install windshield I have not run her down the road yet as it is now 28f and I would like some wind protection. Also forgot my gloves

But is is supposed to be warm tomorrow 38F
I will keep you updated

Just so all are aware, former custom luggage maker for TW200s named Tinman Tim is working on racks and aluminum cases for his RX3 this Winter. I have seen his work. Very nice utilitarian and sturdy. Seems very reasonably priced.

Yes, he does very nice work. I doubt anyone will come close to the cost of the Tourfella luggage. Right now the whole set is $679.00.

Thanks I like the Red, but I would have loved any color it's a bike :lmao:

A fellow rider has the Tusk set on his KLR and loves them. They are made well for the price. If the Tourfella set was not available I would have gone with the Tusk. He paid around $500.00 for the KLR650 side bags and mounts.
His are a similar size to the Tourfella side bags.

That's wonderful. :)

Other pannier mounting systems are available on Taobao, which will support the Tusk panniers, Pelican cases, et cetera. However, every mounting system I have yet seen has the following defect. They attach the front of the racks to the inside end of the passenger foot pegs with a single bolt. :ohno: This attachment point is exposed, and vulnerable. If you drop the bike, you are highly likely to strip the single bolt from the rear of the foot peg. A superior system would attach the front of the rack to the base of the passenger foot peg, on the subframe of the bike itself. This configuration would be much stronger, and much more robust. ;)

If you drop the bike, you are highly likely to strip the single bolt from the rear of the foot peg. A superior system would attach the front of the rack to the base of the passenger foot peg, on the subframe of the bike itself. This configuration would be much stronger, and much more robust. ;)

Spud how do the CSC racks mount?

But that was without the top box correct?

keithmaine, since you just got your bike uncrated and running, before you put any miles on it ,It's paramount that you take care of one little thing that I have neglected to share here with others but should be mandatory and written in BOLD face in the manual.
You need to go have a celebratory ice cream in honor of your purchase and raise a cone to your new bike. Champaign optional. Winter is barely started and I'm already bored. :) rj

Spud how do the CSC racks mount?

All the aftermarket pannier racks I have seen, including the CSC pannier racks, mount to the inside of the end of the passenger foot pegs. I hope someone will design a set of pannier racks that attaches to the subframe, at the top of the passenger foot pegs. :)

So now that the windshield and top case is mounted, the bike has been toasted, and the plates were conveniently in your car, that you managed to put a few miles on the bike?

Quick 8 mile run. First bike rides great I like everything about it. One issue It seems to lean me forward upper body more than most Adv bikes I have ridden. I am long legged short torso 5'10". Has anyone used bar risors yet? I feel my arms need to go up and back a bit.

I haven't yet, but I am going to add some bar risers as well. :) Rather than add spacers under the handlebar trough, I will probably install Tusk risers for 1-1/8 handlebars. ;)

Hello

Took a test ride on the RX3 today.
It's called the Honley Venture RX3 here in the UK.
I liked it so much that I bought it.
It's in orange, it's a demonstrator with 350 miles on the clock.
Fitted with a sat nav, power socket and automatic chain oiler, so some useful extras fitted.

A couple of questions.

The speedo seems very optimistic showing 40mph while the satnav showed 32!
Is that a problem that you have with the Cyclone RX3?
Is there a fix for this problem?

CSC has a nice website, the UK importer sadly does not and also seems lacklustre when it comes to product support.
As a result they don't even supply a user manual, let alone a workshop manual.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might be able to obtain one please?

The dealer that I'm buying from had intended to import the Minsk version ( they currently import Urals and Jawa's) and has given me a few tips along with some guidence sheets. He is currently trying to obtain spares and manuals direct thus bypassing the importer, but that will take some time!

Picking my Zong up a week this Saturday, then it's out for a blast !!!

Cheers

Thanks for the links. Will make good use of them
The chain oiler is a Tutoro automatic chain oiler.
I will take some pics and upload them after I get my bike, though will have to take it for a burn first though :)

The chain oiler can be see here.

Congratulations, Slider!

I agree with Rjmorel's responses to the speedometer. You mentioned that you have a Sat/Nav unit that came with your bike? I added a GPS navigation unit to my bike and I use the speed function to advise of true (GPS measured) speed. The other solution is more elegant and cleaner, but it was cheaper for me to use the GPS Navigation unit since I had it already!

Good luck on Saturday picking up the new bike! And, in case nobody mentioned it, Orange is the fastest color. :p

Nice one slider, I hope you enjoy the bike.

In the UK, RX3 owners are few, we happy few, we band of brothers.... (hmm sounds kinda familiar) :D

And we are likely to stay just a few until we get a decent source for parts here.>:(

I've had my bike 10 months now, used it every day, its not pampered and is often left out in the rain.

It has only actually needed the usual service parts in that time.

I have used CSC website and taobao.com for parts, both have been fine.

Thanks to spud and the contribution of others, this forum is the " one stop shop" for info on your bike.

But remember there are a few differences between the UK and the US model.
