New Progressive Shock!

CSC just announced a new rear shock (http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/RX3-Progressive-Shock-p/csc-1600.htm) - they worked to develop with Progressive Suspension.

I don't know if I'm going to take the plunge as I'm not unhappy with the stock shock. I can say that Progressive make excellent shocks and fork springs, I have both on my Valkyrie and they have made a substantial difference.

Good for you, Dave. You are going to enjoy the Progressive shock absorber. :) I have been testing one for over a month, and it is much superior to the stock shock absorber. :tup: I would never send mine back; I bought it. ;)

Now that the Progressive shock is officially for sale, I will write an installation tutorial sometime this week. ;)

Sorry Spud for the pm, I just saw your reply on the these forums about the shock. Looking forward to the tutorial.
Does the new shock raise the seat height?
I just put a lowering link on it and like it at that height.
Ordered mine, Steve thought they would put in the order Monday, then 4-5 days to make them. Then deliver.

Spudcicle - I see a valve for adding air on the original shock. Do you have any idea on the typical pressure in there. I have a pump for my mtn. bike that goes to 300 psi. Maybe it's worth toying with the pressure to optimize the original?

No, I did not notice any difference in saddle height after installing the Progressive shock. However, suspension travel has increased, and the Progressive shock outperforms the Chinese shock on all surfaces, both paved, and unpaved. I tested the Progressive shock for about 400 miles before the cold weather descended on East Idaho. :)

I can't verify the accuracy, but AKT in Colombia says the Chinese shock should have a pressure of 44 psi. Experiment at your own risk. :shrug:

Think I'll wait as well. Am amazed how well the stock shock works considering my heft.
Once someone gets one I want full measurements. Length c to c. Width of bottom mount, etc.
Will look for alternate shocks that may work well. Have been running a ZX14 Shock on my SV for a long time and it rocks. In fact am on my second one.
Some stock shocks from Japan bikes are very well made and we all know how many bikes end up being parted out early

I kinda wished they (CSC) would have an option of remote spring preload adjustment so when I load up for trips I could dial in more preload and when I'm just running around home be able to back it off, rj

Yes , measurements would be awesome so one would know what one could make fit, I need a better shock , but just can't afford the progressive one right now.i did this with my zong Sierra, put a Yamaha banshee rear shock on it for $75 an it made a huge improvement.

Also, Spud, did you happen to write the tutorial and I can't find it? I saw the tutorial on cleaning and greasing the lower shock linkage....

No, I never wrote a tutorial for the Progressive shock installation. I thought CSC was going to write one. ;)
