Well I put about 3 miles total on it through 3 heat cycles first one was around the yard let it cool off check some bolts etc all good 2nd was down the road maybe a mile let it cool off and the 3rd was about 2 miles brought it back and drained the oil a bit of shinny fine metal shavings came out during that change. I put new oil in and drove the bike home (15 miles from my bros place). Now its parked. I like the bike but if you give it more than half throttle it bogs and looses power. I see no screws on the carb to adjust anything so I assume you have to take the carb off? Make adjustments then hope its right? WTF? I am getting one of those miniki (sp?) carbs on Tuesday plus the bike is not fully broke in. I am not sure what is like reserve and gas on? Also I have to run E10 because we have no Ethanol free gas stations where I live. It also said to run 90 octane or higher on the bike so I put in Premium 93 octane.

Also when I went to the 17T front sprocket I had to grind a little on the sprocket cover to get it back on due to the larger sprocket.

AKI vs RON https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating#Difference_between_RON.2C_MON.2C_and _AKI
===
90 RON was the lowest grade in Chinese national standard, so it's a http://bluebuzzards.com/BTFC/Smileys/New/sign_bullshit.gif

No need for premium, it'll do nothing for you and the bike will probably run better on 87.

Since you already have a carb coming there's no sense in messing with the stock one. Look around on some posts here to see what jets to put in your Mikuni. The external adjustments will only be for idle speed and mixture, anything in the power range will rely on jets and slide needle position. The other simple mod that everyone seems to love is changing to an iridium spark plug.

Some metal and even gasket material is pretty normal on the first couple oil changes.

No need to immediately jump to the new carb. Watch Motocheez video on his stock carb mod - you've nothing to really loose. He's a good guy and will answer any questions you might have about the mod.

I never found any metal shavings in my oil, but, I do have a silver sheen which I suspect is from the clutch. How many miles and oil changes before it isn't so noticeable?

What I did and what has been posted in various 'I just got my bike" threads is I drained the stock oil, put in fresh oil, set the valve lash, did 3 or 4 heat cycles and then changed the oil again. I'm now at 600 miles so I'm going to change the oil again and clean the screen.
