I purchased a New Hawk 250cc and rode it a couple of times. Now it started something new. It idles fine but when I go to 1st gear it will kill after a few seconds.
The other issue that I seem to have with it, is that it is very hard to kick start.
Does anyone have any input?
Thank you

Hi glad you joined us. Have you adjusted the clutch? Might be time?

Hey Merlin, i think you meant valves.
I think he means the clutch it's not disengaging.

:cry:It takes time and a few more miles on the engine to be able to started up and a few bruises if you try to start it with flip flops like I did.

Cant hurt to check first.
Do these things have a clutch switch ?
if so could be a good starting point...

Hawks do have a clutch safety switch. Even if they didn't that should not prevent the bike from running after you put it gear.
I think the OP meant put it into first gear after starting the bike. The Hawk also doesn't have a compression release so it will be hard to start with the kick starter if you don't know how to start a 4 stroke bike. It's not the same as a 2 stroke engine.
