Hey guys. I picked up a basket case Wildfire Dual Sport 200cc bike. It wasn't running so it was robbed of most parts. I was wondering what I should be looking for to get compatible parts for it. I need bolts, plastic, and other random stuff.

It runs and shifts great,so I'm trying to figure out if it's worth putting back together. So far it's a $150 investment.

Thanks
James

JamesWhy not ride it without the plastic? Quality metric bolts and nuts are available at most hardware stores. If it needs a headlight, there is a round one with built in front turn signals that mounts to the front forks. Someone on here has a thread about restoring "Swamp Thing", using that headlight. New front fenders are available on the internet.

If it was cheap enough, I'd like to license it and just ride. If I can get it reliable. If it's an issue,I'll put a headlight on it and call it a day. But I need some basics. The front brake reservoir is junk and its missing fenders to keep the dirt from flinging in your eyes.

I'm just trying to find the brand so I can look up parts.

It's probably a ROKETA, don't know who makes them though.

I'm just trying to find the brand so I can look up parts.

Chinese bikes or honda clones of this vintage don't really go by "brands". They were made at various factories and branded by the purchaser. Many brands are the same collection of parts.

Best source for parts is either ebay, or taobou (chinese ebay). Search ebay for terms such as " 200cc dirt bike front fender"
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=200cc+dirt+bike+fron+fender&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X200cc+dir t+bike+front+fender.TRS1&_nkw=200cc+dirt+bike+front+fender&_sacat=0

Taobao is much better and would very likely have the exact parts you are looking for...it is far trickier to order from as its in chinese and you purchase through an agent and shipping s=charges are a little high but prices are cheap.

Parts are available, but can be tricky to get. With patience and practice you can find something that works...
Sometimes you can find parts with US resellers but my experience is your gonna pay double...

Also look for someone selling parts, or another bike for cheap with say a bad motor and good parts.

Once you sort it out, these bikes can be very reliable IME!!!

Not sure where you are located ,but I would just find some universal plastics and be done with it .Polisport and UFO are two brands with descent inexpensive plastic ,if you are cheap like me ,I have 1980's Honda xr500 plastic screwed onto a China 250 with no issues ,also a generic eBay search for 250 dirt bike plastic might just net you something as well .

Very helpful. Thanks for the information.

I've been doing more research. It looks like I can fix the main issues and have a solid little bike for under $100, including the plastics.

I'm on my way out to try and find some bolts and a replacement gas cap locally. I will try to get it reliable today and take it for some more trips around the neighborhood and see if it's as good as I hope it is.

My other thought was trying to find a Honda bike that someone had scattered the motor on. Then it would just be a Honda with a Chinese engine. Has anyone tried that before?

China. The stateside guy hangs some cutesey-poo name on it, like Willburnyorebutt, or Roketa or Willnotrun or whatever. So you buy one. Now if the stateside guy is a straight arrow, he backs his merchadise with parts and service. If he has warranty problems, he gets right on the manufacturer about finding a solution. And then there is the guy only interested in making money, and when he ships the product and dumps the money in his bank account, he's done. That's the guy to look out for.

Thanks again guys. I got some bolts and an oil change and had to remove a broken bolt on the intake side of the head I didn't notice before. It runs great. I was on it for almost 2 hours and it was flawless. I'm pretty impressed so far. Even the neighbors like it. Here's some updated pics. Please ignore the spray can gas cap. It seems to work though.

I think you said above you paid $150.00 for it. Thats a great deal on a running bike. I am another that suggests you put very little money into it other than making it run reliable. I would go for the 'rat rod' look. Remove all plastics, take a grinder to any extra metal parts sticking off the frame, simplify the wiring as much as possible, couple cans of flat black spray and you're good to go.

With the bolts and oil, I'm around 170 altogether I believe. I think I may keep it simple. I just got done riding with brother through some trails, dirt roads and fields. It did very well although it seems to be running hot. I will open the needle a little bit and hopefully fatten it up a little. It also did a weird sudden stopping when letting out the clutch at a stand still. Like it just catches something and kills it. I will check the chain and make sure it's not snagging something. It is pretty loose.

That has cap looks exactly like mine. I will be hitting Napa in the morning and hopefully they have one. That will be one le thing to worry about.

All in all, in pretty pleased with it so far.

Yes, there have been threads on the subject here on chinariders (full-size dirt-bikes), but probably years ago. On advriders and other more mainstream groups, as well as craigslist, there are discussions (or in craigslist's case--bikes for sale) of the CT70 with Lifan horizontal engines installed. Even comparing a Honda to a Chinese clone, the 125cc Lifan offers much more power than a stock Honda 70cc.

I am guessing there are a few Honda bikes with the Chinese vertical 200/229/233cc engines discussed, more recently on groups like thumpertalk or advrider. The engine, from what I remember, is close to being a virtual 'drop-in' but you will have some modifications to make, naturally, because nothing in life is designed to work as easily as you would like (i.e. Murphy's Law).

I will probably be parting out my TMEC 200 enduro, but I am quite sure the parts are not compatible, so you will probably have some alterations to make, so I urge you to keep checking your local craigslist for donor bikes, or even a bike that simply needs a new engine (including an old XR200), since you already have that part going in your favor!

Dude your bike looks great! I too grab one dirt cheap and have a fun little bike now. I went as far as getting it road ready and got it registered. Can't get over how good it runs after being left to sit for so long.

Have fun!
