I want a new carb I don't want to have to take the stock carb apart to adjust.... I want a carb with the mixture screws on the outside like a normal carb... any ideas?

The mixture screw is on the outside, on the bottom... has a black tamper proof plug you have to pop out to get to the actual screw.

Thank you for your time, I will have to look for that I have done research for the past year I have had it and all I see is everyone has to Dremel a slit in the screws on the bottom of the bowl to take it off then they adjust from there... so I will definitely look for that black plug

Yes, that is to change the jets, The jets are different than the mixture screw. The jets are usually wrong for your altitude and need to be changed for better performance. any carb you buy you will need to pull apart and change the jets.

They are on e-nay for around 30 bucks. You should buy 110 and 115 main jets. Wait and see if you need a new pilot jet.

But you still have to pull it apart, just not dremel the screw slots.

My $30 VM26 is great. very easy to pull apart and you can save money on band-aids.

But you still have to pull it apart, just not dremel the screw slots.Well, there is no free lunch. Yes you have to drop the bowl to change the jets, but you don't have to tear the carburetor apart. Also, the Mikuni is far easier to get jets for than is a Keihan. The thread pitch is different between the two, on the jets.

Mine is like motocheez and takes mikuni jets. Have them in it right now, A lot of people have bought the 30 dollar carb. if You do hey its your $ people who have jetted the stock carb and then purchased the mikuni have not noticed any difference.
Either way, the jets are the same, you change them the same way, and the mixture screw is on the outside

They sure fit in mine and motocheez's bike.....without any force, have you even tried them? maybe keihin jets wont fit in the stock carb....

I'm not using the stock carb and Mr. Muffin was asking about an aftermarket carb in his first post. The jets in the link will fit in the stock carb but not the Mikuni.

The mikuni jets are what I am using in my stock carb. The same jets everyone said to buy with the mikuni carb. I think they are the same thread (stock and mikuni carb). I do not see a link to jets but his original post was just about a mixture screw. both have it, If he wants to spend the money thats fine, he just dosent have too, the stock carb is fine.

On the left is a main jet that fits in the VM 26 and on the right is one that fits in the stock Hawk carb.

threads look longer but the same pitch, jets look the same dimensional size and it fit and works. Next time I pull it i will take pics.

What are you trying to prove? You don't even own both of the carbs in question. I think it best if we both dropped the whole thing.

Same here. I went back and checked the stock jet and the mikuni and have the same threads.

I cut the slots with a fine tooth hack saw. It was a whole lot safer than the dremel.

Same here. I went back and checked the stock jet and the mikuni and have the same threads. The Keihin has 0.8 mm threads. The Mikuni has 0.75 mm threads. That's close but not identical. The Mikuni jets will thread into the Keihin carburetor ok, but the Keihin jets will screw up the threads in the Mikuni carb.

Where did you get this information, I would like to read it. everything I have found said the head of the keihin jets are a mm bigger also, these are not. maybe its a china thing and not real brand copy jets. wish I had a metric thread pitch tool....

I believe he is mistaken.....
from jets are us
OVERALL LENGTH = 9mm
HEAD DIAMETER = 8mm
THREAD DIAMETER = 4.9mm
THREAD PITCH = 5.0 x 0.7
MIKUNI N100.604
and no KEIHIN is the same physical size, so mikuni knock off main jets may be in these stock carbs

My only point was that those Mikuni jets will fit in the stock Hawk carb but not in the Mikuni VM26. I know it because I tried to use them in the Mikuni and they wound not thread in. That is all I have say in the great main jet debate.

Valvoline heavy duty diesel oil. 15w-40 because I had a gallon in my shop. I will probably switch to the that oil that reminds me of Nutella next year. I also used DOT 3 brake fluid because I also had some of that.

Any guesstimates on jet size with pod filter no sealed box and aftermarket pipe? 117.5? 120? 125?
only two slots on my needle right now top slot with 1 washer, 110 jet and 1.5 turns out, adding the pod

Law suit oil from Dollar General has to be better than what came with the bike.

https://youtu.be/Zy8f_IIo7wsThat's why I prefer the Mikuni. You can get pilot jets for them. I don't know where you go to find pilot jets for a Keihin or the clone Sheng Way.

It depends on the Keihin clone; some will actually accept Keihin jets. Mikuni carbs (even fakes) will always accept Mikuni jets, IME. A Keihin clone that will accept jets you can actually find is worth keeping.

I was just about to write another article on Hawk Talk, explaining why I reccomend the Mikuni carb, but I'm going to hold off until I can find the answer to this question.

You can find the answer at www.jetsrus.com (http://www.jetsrus.com), since they post the dimensions of each type of jet.

Thanks for being so well-mannered. The rest of the story is that you'd need to measure a jet in question, and compare it with the dimensions posted on www.jetsrus.com (http://www.jetsrus.com). In other words, I can't tell you if a Mikuni jet would fit a Keihin clone unless I had a Keihin clone jet to work with. What complicates that is Keihin clone carbs are inconsistent, whereas Mikuni carbs always use the same jets, IME.
The typical 30mm Mikuni carb that several of us know and love uses N100.604 Large Round main jets and VM28/486 slow jets.

I personally am not interested in trying to figure out which jets can be made to fit a pz carb. I want to buy a handful of main and pilot jets, sit back and relax, knowing my jetting problems are under my control for the foreseeable future.
