'Bout time. I was worried that the Elio would be available before the Genuine thumper.

Elio...have, been watching that story for years. They missed there time now that drill baby drill worked.

Now that a genuine will go on sale, they will trickle them out and sell at a premium in effort to recover r and d costs...

Lordy don't the wheels turn slow.

Funny thing is, I remember seeing the EPA certification for them on the 2016 EPA/DOT list. The certification did not mention Genuine, but was for 'SRM' which is Shineray. Usually, with bikes, a few models that share an engine share the certification, and the two bikes certified last year were the XY400 (the Genuine bike) and the XY400GY which is a dual sport model called the X5, I believe. Don't get excited, because with many companies a long list of models appear which COULD, but don't make it stateside. But seeing that it is Shineray and not the importer, Genuine, gaining certification, another distributor, or Shineray itself could sell the X5 'adventure' bike here.

For comparison, SSR is listed on several models as the 'manufacturer' meaning they paid for certification for several bikes. CSC, not Zongshen, is listed as the manufacturer for the tT250 and the RX3 and the RC3. But, again, Genuine is not mentioned so they could shop their bike around if Genuine does not work out.

When I first heard about the ELIO, I gave them a thumbs down and things have not changed.

It made since when we were getting held up at the pump. Now, I'm going back to the full size half ton next year. No biggie at 2 gas.

The Elio was certified on the EPA/DOT list last year. They can't claim the EPA held them up!

The only incentive to buy one is if they keep it well within the low cost they originally talked about. Do you think that's going to happen...:ohno:

I hope so. With the RX3 being around $4000, they really shouldn't ask much more than that

Let's hope many more 400 cc's find their way in other manufacturer's bike.

The 229 cc is really dated, although bullet-proof.

Anyway, that bike looks GREAT!

olds--you probably remember the Xingyue 400 lineup a few years back? Four different models of enduro (2 dirt bikes and 2 'adventure' like models) and yet their engine seemed to have a fatal flaw. Pitster Pro re-branded one of the enduro models, sold a few, and would not honor any type of warranty. I believe member Fastdoc bought one used and was stuck with it once it broke. It was a shame they never seemed to try to fix it!

The closest thing today is the Asiawing MX bike sold by SSR, with the liquid-cooled 450 engine manufactured by Zongshen. Shame no effort was made to bring Asiawing's dual sport model a few years ago, too, when the off-road version arrived. They should have at least sold the full lighting kit for those states that allow off-road bikes to be converted to street-legal?!

Anyway, I think that Shineray could bring their street legal enduro, the X5 bike, over as it falls on the same EPA/DOT certificate as the retro 400. If they don't, that would be a shame!

I can't recall what the originally talked about selling price was going to be. :hmm:
