I wouldn't mind coming, but Wheeling is a 10 hour drive for me. Perhaps this could be arranged in the southern portion of WV.

I might ride 6 hours.

well once we see how many we can get together then i can go to some dealers of chinese bikes and say hey we have x# of bikes going to put together a ride and see if we can get and (notoriaty?)or sponors. maybe a little ride or a rather lengthy one its all up to how many and were? just think we would be the first correct me if im wrong china bike riders to gather and ride together? and if we can get together more than like ten then we can find a place that is central and go it from there ???? im thinking we need some chinariders.net swag though not just stickers.... :D

EDIT: I copied this post from another thread and reposted it here.

Great idea! I'm in! Are we making this a chinabike only ride? Just checking! My X-Ranger should be fixed sometime in late Nov. early Dec. and I'll have the new bigger wheels and tires installed by then too. There will be a short break in the action this week for deer season and the healing of my shoulder!

What about a weekend ride? This could be the first Spring ride of the year. Meaning early Spring! We meet on Friday at a central location for everyone that's interested in going. Then we take off on some dualsport routes and fire roads. Nothing to serious. No interstate! All back roads! It may be better to trailer to a central location or just a great riding area and takeoff on our bikes from there. You want to make sure that you have a way home if something happens. I wouldn't want to inconvience someone to have to come and get me if my bike breaks. I have an enclosed trailer that will hold numerous bikes. Probably eight, maybe more, if we stack them! The trailer is 8'X12' with a loading ramp. It would make a great basecamp (especially if it rains) and we could haul all the spare parts, fuel and camping gear we could ever use. That way if some one needs a rescue and repair it could be easily accomplished without a big hassle. My brother-in-law has a Dodge pickup that would also hold a couple bikes. Check the picture at the bottom of my posts. He'll let me borrow it for a weekend. How many of you are within a drive of WV?

Just throwing some ideas out!

Sam, I think it should be open to any bike. That way former chinariders who have since moved on to a Jap bike can still attend or others can be invited in.

I'm in! We should plan it during half decent weather, though! Sometime in the early Spring. How does May look to everyone? I'd like to do it fairly early in the riding season. I really want to take my X-Ranger 200 and have a nice laid back trip. With chinabikes we could have an easy, look at the scenery, enjoy the ride pace!

Also, what part of the state does everyone want to see? Pumpkin and I did a one day ride earlier this year, that took us from Morgantown down to Spruce Knob and back. We did close to 400 miles I believe. I cheated and rode my 950.

Below is a picture from Dolly Sods, WV. This picture wasn't taken on the trip Pumpkin and I took but a later one. This is looking out towards Petersburg, WV! Great dirtroads and awesome scenery! I'd also like to swing down through Green Bank. You've got to see what's down there! Very interesting! We may be able to find some dirtroad shortcuts through some nice areas. Another though may be the Sinks of Gandy! Are we looking at two or three days?

Pumpkin and I have also been talking about doing a Blue Ridge Parkway trip on our chinabikes! We could take two days vacation and have a week off to ride the BRP. If anyone is interested in doing this, please let us know. We could plan that too! Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway have a speedlimit of 35mph and 45mph, perfect for chinabikes. The bottom pictures are from the BRP trip I took in October. Nine of us rode to Pigeon Forge, NC and onto the Cherokee National Forest, the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Deal's Gap. Three of us did the entire length of the BRP and Skyline Dr. on the way home. AWESOME trip! Next time, I plan to video it.

Deal's Gap pictures. Trips like these help clear your mind and it gets you focused back on what's important in your life. that's the way I've always looked at it. I need my time away to refocus.

A chinabike trip through WV sounds like a great idea. It may be tough to get everyone together for a BRP trip. The Deal's Gap pictures are just to fire you guys up!

To far out of the loop for me I guess.

SamM, there is more pavement in those pics than I care to see when I'm out riding
Nice scenery but I prefer tight, winding trails with the trees zipping by me inches away.(when I'm not careful I can even taste the bark-)

TeamCeap,
This isn't what we have planned for the WV trip. We'll be doing a mix of pavement and dirtroads then. I'd like more off-road than on-road for that trip. These pictures are of the trip I did to NC. Just posting to fire everyone up for a trip! Maybe, I wasn't clear enough! Look at these pictures. This is more of what we'll be doing in WV!

Granted these aren't the best off-road pictures, but I was busy during the off-road sections as the big trailie isn't the best bike for this.

Here you go! Pumpkin and his American Lifan and my Yamaha TT-R250. We were woods riding on my property. Lots of trees! The second picture shows pavement but it's in the parking lot of Spruce Knob.

It looks like a very scenic ride I'm just used to being on ATV trails since my wife cant ride her 200gy offroad so we're stuck on the trails.

I hope to get her up north next summer riding on and offroad on her bike but I doubt it.Maybe if she is on a TW200 she could handle offroading it a little.

I own 110 acres of property, so I guess I'm just spoiled on trails. We have trails just behind my house right in my backyard. This is something I can do everyday, so I don't even think to get pictures of our bikes on these trails. My pics are mostly of scenic rides me and buddies have done. Most of the trails in area have been closed because of trespassers. I recently had to do this to my land also. Anyway, as I said our ride through WV will be a combination of a little pavement to get into the area and then trails and gravel roads into scenic spots. The pavement will be two lanes roads with a speedlimit of 55mph. No interstate highways.

This area is Dolly Sods. It is unique, in that no other area like this exists outside of Canada and Alaska. During the last Ice Age a large chunk of Arctic tundra was picked up and transported here by a very large glacier. It was deposited on a large plateau. It's a very cool place to ride to and see! We have plants here that are found nowhere else in the lower 48 states.

Another point that may be relevant here is that most of the scenic areas in my pictures are either State or National Forests. You are not allowed to ride motorcycles on trails in these areas. These areas are for hiking and mountain biking only. We may be able to find places were motorcycle trailriding is possible, but I'll need to contact a few State agencies to find out for sure.

One other thing is that some riders may not be comfortable on tight trails too. Gravel roads like in the last picture is considered offroad to some.

I like the tight ones, but if the ride consisted of 2-lane paved roads and gravel ones that would be fine with me. Also the paved routes would allow for street bikes and scooters to participate.

Might be able to plan alternate routes with meeting points for those wanting the full offroad experience.

I live close to Snow Shoe. Did you ride the SSRT trails?

I rode on some of them but if you go past the ssrt park their is a alot of land not owned by ssrt you can ride on. Nice hills near the volcano . I went with a group thats been going there for years and they said it was safe-legal. Planning on going back up in may for a few days to camp out and ride. Ill probably bring the china bike as a back up since no one wants to buy it . haha

Did you ride bikes or atvs?
I haven't ridden the Roketa on those trail as I don't have a membership, but I cross over the trail at gordon quite a bit. Did you cross the viaduct bridge?

I would love to ride in the Wheeling area....Im a graduate of West Liberty....there was alot of backroads up near Castlemans Run...Id rather bring my DR 650 on a ride....but baseball is going to start so if its later in the summer count me in....or if nothing is going on........or I live in Central WV....with Miles of backroads to ride on...Its nothing to go on a 80 mile ride without seeing blacktop...
