Spark arrestor

There is a national forest that allows dirt bikes just outside of town, but one of its rules is the bike must have a "spark arrestor." What is this? and does the Lifan GY have one? If not, can I add one?

I'm not sure the law is the same wherever you live but I suspect it's the same in all national forests. Here, any street legal motorcycle is automatically legal to ride in the forest. Only non licensed vehicles need to have an approved spark arrestor.

You can get one of these. I paid about $30 on ebay. Cobra Sparky. This one fit a kawasaki kx500, but I made it fit.
