I lowsided this morning pulling out of my subdivision. Rear tire found some pieces of gravel on the pavement. (I live near a quarry) Anyway laid the bike down and stepped off it. No damaged other than scuffs and a bent shifter. Saw some nice sparks.

I have bent the shifter a couple times now and I don't know how many times I can bend it back before it breaks.

Has anyone tried a folding shifter? I am thinking a xr or crf one may fit.

Ive looked at folding shifters of eBay but they all seem cheesy and not very well made. I went to price one up at my local Honda shop as Yamaha shop i usually go to pushed me away last time i went in looking for parts. $50 Australian for a folding gear shift lever. At that point i decided to stay with a normal one. If u can find a good quality one and a reasonable price i reckon it would be a worth while investment.

I did a low speed spill on sand and bent my shifter up and it tweaked the seal a little so now I have a slight leak.
I think I'll be adding some bars up under the engine to help keep the shifter from grabbing the ground if I fall again.
I have thought about those folding shifters but I'd rather have it protected from hitting the ground completely.

Thats a good idea. I might just need a crash bar. Would also save the break pedal.

I have a UM dsf200 - all of the protruding parts are foldable. (brakes, gear shifter, turn signals)

Luckily I haven't dropped it yet. It is nice to know it won't hurt the bike too bad if I do.

I don't know if the UM shifter would fit your bike. Does anyone know if the UM parts fit on the Lifan and vise versa?

Those United Motors bikes sound really nice! How does it run?

I think I like to idea of making a guard of some sorts to protect those items.

The UM bikes do look nice.

My UM does look nice, but for what I paid, I would have bought a used suzuki if I could do it over again.

I have had a major brake problem that locks up the brakes. If I let it cool off I can ride again. Luckily it is doing that less now.

My turn signal indicator is broken - I have been waiting on a new instrument console from the dealer for over 4 months.

My dealer is 70 miles away - very few local shops want to even touch my bike for repairs.

It does ride nice - It can go 70 and cruises nice at 57mph.

I had the rear brake problem. You need to adjust the rear master cylinder plunger. Look at the linkage that attaches it to the pedal and you should see an adjustment area. Thread it so it is pulling the plunger part out. After doing this bleed the rear brakes too.
