Newbie to the China bikes, long time MX/desert racer, we bought 2 new Viva VX250's yesterday, built them and took them for the first ride in the afternoon. Never considered one but I am impressed so far. Price was right -$1150 out the door each, directly from the distributor who was cutting some great deals. We picked them up from the warehouse in Vernon CA, about an hour and half from home. Plan on riding over the holiday with old riding friends. Opinions from them will be noted; they’re all die hard big 4 and KTM bike riders! I've owned all Japanese bikes before, been riding since 1982, raced AMA District 37 for 5 years, so I will abuse this thing and do my best to report back. :D

Welcome to here. There are a few Californians here--I used to live in Northridge myself, but relocated to AZ in '02. Member 'Liverchip' lives in Apple Valley which is close enough to you, and he was asking how many members plan to ride in Mojave this winter. You should get ahold of him.

I bet you will/have gotten a lot of flack for the Chinese bikes on Thumpertalk(if you even admitted to it). However, for some reason, you won't get that here  !

We have all agreed, here on Chinariders at least, that for the money, these bikes are well worth it, and we have all agreed, that they are NOT the same bikes in quality as the Japanese/European bikes (duh!!), although they do hold up better than what is expected of them.

I do think that the pure dirt bikes from China seem to be alot better quality overall than those of us who bought Chinese enduros for the street/trail, but time will tell on this theory.

Trust me I know! It was purchased for trail riding, not for use on any of our local motocross tracks.

My racing days are over. 8)

Welcome! As Culcune posted, I'm out in the Victor Valley and frequent the desert and mountian areas out here. I ride with C333 and his YZF 400 pretty frequently. If you're up for some riding out here (or anywhere in the dez), let me know.
