Looking for a place to buy a quality replacement seat for my 2008 Lifan gy-5. The stock seat pan has broken into small pieces and the plastic is very easily broken now.

Or possibly there is a different seat that someone knows is similar?

Mine fell apart years ago but I found a piece of fiberglass in my junk pile that just happened to have the right bend and made a seat pan out of it. It'll never break again.

I thought about making one out of fiberglass but I guess I'm just not that confident in my fabrication skills.

Maybe a piece cut from a 55 gallon plastic barrel and a heat gun?

I thought about doing that but the rest of the plastic is sooo brittle that it wouldn't last. I'll post a pic of the seat though... just for fun.

It looks like possibly a wr250x/r seat may be a similar fit. Can anyone verify this?

:thanks:

Could be, but you could make just about any dirt bike tank and seat combo work if you have a welder. Your frame is loosely based on the original XR200 (not the R version), so you'd probably have the best luck with a later-model XR200 seat and tank.

duct tape the bottom and take the covering off and fiberglass the top of it and then maybe the bottom too going around the rubber bumpers. no fab skills needed that way.

Thanks guys I will probably try the duct tape and fiberglass idea and if it doesn't work out I'll get a new tank and seat.
