Southern California's need not apply, sorry Culcune
I see where pistolclass will be enjoying -1 F by Monday in Connecticut :wtf:
Tell us how cold and awful it is where you live that you can't ride those China rides.

10F with a -4F windchill in East Dundee. And it's snowing.
Looking at 3F on Monday for the annual Polar Bear Ride. Might be rethinking that one.

-29 degrees Celsius here right now, headed for -35 tonight... Lol, it's been like this for a week already. -20 C seems balmy these days ;)

Unusually warm 52 degrees at home in Central Oregon right now at 2:45 am and 36 degrees now here in Arizona though it's going to be a nice sunny 74 here today. I'll be out exploring the desert on the quad.

Lol, true! I guess you can always dress up for the cold, but you can only dress down for the heat so much!

Not to mention, with the sun beating down with so much heat, you tend to want to not expose too much skin. But, to be honest, once you get used to the intense heat, and you have decent air conditioning at home, work, and your car, you really can do things like shopping, going out for dinner, etc. I remember living in Chicago just before up to my tenth birthday, and going through two blizzards in a row in '78, and '79 (we moved the summer of '79, so perhaps I am imagining two separate storms when in fact the snow came in droves in late '78 and stayed on the ground through early spring '79?).

For us -9f is considered balmy. When it gets to -30f (and it has every year but last) we will call it cold. Now we are still in the mid 40s? We call that riding weather around here.

I guess I can officially complain. Normal temps here are around the mid to upper 60s this time of year. Woke up to 26* temps with a wind chill of 13*. High for today about 35. Supposed to be like this the whole week. At least it won't be raining or snowing . Happy New Year's everyone!

Happy New Year!
Weather man called for 3f today, but it's 10f out here at our place. He's calling for a couple more days with a low of 3f this week, but I'll be heading back down the mountain to warmer weather. It sure is nice to have a fire blazing in the wood stove. :)

My sister told me that she lost power in Pineville and woke up to low twenties and cold wind. She had to wander out and break up the ice in the horse trough so the horses could drink. Seems she left the trough heater in WY , thinking she wouldn't need it in LA.
Ten below when I took off on the PB ride. Pics and description in Ride Reports later, after I get feeling back in my toes.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the weather here in the low plains (Nebraska and Dakotas). Wind. There is nothing here to block it lol. 10-20mph winds is a normal breezy day.
That and the wild temp. swings between summer and winter. Nebraska and South Dakota have the widest range of temps between summer and winter. It's a great place to live if you want southern style hot and humid summers mixed with sub-arctic style winters.
We are having a nice heat wave today with a high of 20 degrees, but then we are back to single digits and sub zero for the rest of the week.

OK winter officially sucks. My lovely wife noticed that the vents were blowing cold air on the second floor. I went to the basement to check the obvious stuff like breakers/emergency switch/burner trip-reset that sort of stuff. None of the items I knew to check were the problem so I call the HVAC guy. After a quick diagnosis, he determined that my lines to the air handler in the attic were frozen!!! I built this house in 2000 and this has never happened before. So I went up there with my trusty Harbor Freight heat gun and unfroze the little offending bugger. Luckily no damage to the copper pipes or the PEX. The only reason we could deduce is my lovely wife lowered the heat upstairs, that reduced the frequency that the upstairs air handler would kick in allowing the system to cool down enough to freeze. Back to my opening statement: Winter officially sucks.

A useful thing to know is -40c is the same as -40f. Also there are plenty of conversion tools online.
Anyway -36 centigrade = approx -33 Fahrenheit.
Cold = Cold. ;-)

JerryHawk...is it cold enough for ya in South Louisiana? Too damn cold. All the Interstates are closed. 18 degrees with a wind chill of 5 on my scary ride to work this morning. Every bridge I crossed was iced up and patched of ice on the road. I was slippin and slidin all the way to work. It took an extra 15 minutes just to get to work. And I wish you northern folks would quit sending that white stuff down here. If I wanted to see snow I would turn on the TV and watch it on the news. lol

Haven't heard from her yet, but I think she's wishing she'd stayed in Wyoming.
I'm in Kenner, LA today and fly back tomorrow. I was standing outside at the airport yesterday, waiting for the hotel shuttle, with my jacket open and no gloves on. I kept getting these looks...

I would say drive a little farther south and come visit but I don't think you could get across the river. All the bridges are iced up.

I figured it would be bad in South LA. that's wwhze I askead.
Went out in the shop a while ago to see about drilling an oil drain access hole in my Zuki skid plate and soon decided to bug out to the propane heater instead.
They had a report in Corpus Christi news talking about the cold and that there were "still food supplies in the stores" (you know how local news casts can be so stupid trying to drum up stories and fill segments ). So I'm thinking, that's a relief , we won't have to eat grandma after all. :hi:

Staying at a hotel in Kenner but have the sales rep chauffeuring me around. Hard getting around here with the interstates closed, so I've seen a lot of NOLA I'd hadn't seen before.
I came down to see what was ailing a backhoe mounted tie tamper. One problem was a halfassed repair that took me twenty minutes to fix but two hours to find a replacement part. The other problem is in the seat.
Was also supposed to unload a machine on Friday for the Corps of Engineers that I didn't find out about until today. Turns out they don't work on Friday, so I dodged that bullet.
Going home in the A of M tomorrow. I hope.
