View Full Version : Enforcer on Order!

Well, I decided on an Enforcer rather than a Storm. Many reasons and I took dozens of analytical looks at the two. It really came down to anticipated usage and the bulletproof nature of the non-ballanced 250cc engine.
I have a new chain, Shinko 244 tires, & ultra heavy duty tubes on order. I won't get it all until I get back home from military TDY at the end of Jan but I can't wait to get started!

Ever since Bashans started proving themselves as quality machines, starting with the Storm 250 about 3 or 4 years back, and continuing with the Brozz and Shark, and then the Enforcer, I really think people would do better getting an Enforcer over the Hawk. Yes, my opinion, and I cannot dismiss how well sorted out the Hawks have become thanks to this forum and Motocheez's youtube videos (Megadan, your advice has become worth near gold on the subject of Hawks). Part of my opinion is I would prefer street gearing as stock, and moving to off-road if I chose, and the Enforcer is right there with that.

I have never heard of the Enforcer yet! Does anyone know what the differences is between this and the Hawk 250? They look quite similar from my limited research so far.
Very curious to learn about any differences between the Enforcer and Hawk. :thanks:

I had a chance to play around with a new Enforcer recently. Material quality wise, you couldn't tell the difference between the two. I think they will likely have better "out of the crate" quality, but not by much. They share most of the same parts.
I do agree that the 17/46 gearing out of the box and better carb tuning is a nice touch. That covers 2 of the biggest upgrades most Hawk owners make. I would still take all of the same precautions in terms of loctite and lubrication though.
If I had to choose between the two, it would simply come down to what I got the better deal on. However, that opinion is entirely formed on the idea that I will never ever leave a bike stock lol.
I see it this way. Out of the box, no mods, I would likely buy an Enforcer. The Enforcer is what the Hawk should be when new. The second you start doing mods, the difference between the two is non-existent, or at least so minimal you would be hard pressed to tell the difference.
The real question I have is, will the Enforcers suffer from some of the same quirks like the Hawk? Rear sprocket/stud issues. Speedo drive/cable issues. etc. Trying to compare the quality of the two is hard to do given the sample size difference. There are a ton of Hawk owners, but only a few Enforcer owners at this point.

Well, I am glad to be joining the sample size of Enforcer owners. I will try to take good notes and pictures as I build it and ride it.

The only thing I can see needing is the ability to tune the carb. I am waiting to see what the carburetor and the Jets look like before I order anything. Eventually I may replace the speedometer as well. I'm not too worried about the mileage being off since the resale value on these bikes is not really high anyway. Oh yeah, maybe some LED running lights! I guess you're right.

AFAIK, the stock Bashan carb tuning is a lot better than the Hawk's. As far as the jetting, I don't know about the enforcer, but I believe the Brozz comes with a slow/pilot jet that can actually be changed. The main reason so many Hawk owners switch to the Mikuni is due to the goofy unique pilot jet of the Hawk carb, and the too lean main jet.
As far as the speedometer goes, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Digital Speedo and Tach cluster for the Hawks worked on the enforcers with no mods/changes needed. So that is something to consider. I didn't upgrade mine for accurate mileage on the odometer. I got mine for an accurate speedometer lol.

According to this forum, the hawk speedo works just fine. I just don't have $95 right now and I could not care less to have a tach. I have a car that is 10% off on the speedo and I have always just done the math.
So, the speedo is not a priority in any way.

I also wanted a tach. That was the other big selling factor for me. Average Hawk speedometer is around 13% off. This speedo is less than 1% off at 60mph. It makes tracking improvements from upgrades or mods much easier, as does the tachometer.
It's all personal preference. If you can live without it, then rock what you got!

Had the Enforcer been around when I bought my Hawk I probably would have chosen it over the Hawk just because of the NHTSA sticker. in CT it would have made registering it easier.
As far as resale, to my amazement folks have sold well sorted out hawks for more than the $1,300 new mark.
BTW thank you for your service, hopefully your TDY didn't take you too far or too long from home.

I had no problems with them. They handles warranty and damaged issues quickly. There were some problems last year but it was more a problem with the bike held up in customs. There was a shortage of Hawks and Enforcers.

I just ordered a Hawk 2 from Safer wholesale for $1459 delivered and the paperwork. I think it's the Bashan Enforcer with the proper number on the swing arm and correct gauge cluster. They said it was in stock and should be delivered in 10-14 days. I'll post results and how the whole process goes!

Congrats on your bike , I received mine within a week from Don , no issues ... I ve riding mine like a dirt bike and its been trouble free. Well it would have gotten delivered today, but the guy who had it on the truck was not allowed on the Air Force Base that I live on. They have to send somebody else out on Monday. It doesn't really matter because I am 2000 miles away on a military TDY. It will be there when I get home for sure though!

Oh, the delivery problems continue. On Friday the driver could not get on base. Today, the driver did not have a lift truck. Of the 10 drivers that they have employed, only one driver is allowed on base. But, he is not the driver that drives the lift truck. When I called the delivery company they didn't know what to do. When I called ASPC, I got the excuse that they are just the third party and they would see what they could do. I told him "no, they are the originator of this and they need to fix this." I told them that I lived on an Air Force Base from the beginning of all of this. I paid for home delivery and I should not need to even put one ounce of effort into this to make it happen.
I am starting to understand why people have had problems in the past. Now I sure do hope that my bike will be there on Friday when I get back. I'm not so sure.
Benspeeder
01-22-2018, 09:52 PM
Well that's a drag but being on a base is little different. Access restrictions and all. Sorta easy for the company to get the right guy in the truck who can get on base!
Megadan
01-22-2018, 11:43 PM
That third party line they are giving you is actually legitimate. Once they ship the item via a third party company, how it is delivered is out of their hands and firmly in the hands of the company doing the deliveries. Your best bet is to get on the delivery company and either demand compensation for the extra money you paid for home delivery, or that they work something out.
I know it can be frustrating, but take it from me, keep a cool head and work the system. If you start getting the run around, then hopefully you paid by card or with a loan, because at that point you can involve the financial institution to ensure a resolution. Trust me, once their wallets are involved, things will get done faster.

I have been in the Air Force 22 years. Try the wingman concept. Have the delivery company call someone at your shop or office, then have that person go to the front gate visitors center and sign them on. Then your wingman escorts them to your house and gets your crate into your garage! We do this ALL the time for our deployed brothers in blue. We do WHATEVER needs to be done to make their deployment easier on them!

I am a SMSgt at Nellis. They background check every visitor and if they don't pass or they don't have a "real ID" then they are not allowed on. Only one of the 10 drivers is allowed on. The delivery company is figuring it out. I paid them; therefore, i don't work for them.
Thanks for the offer though.

But, these shipping companies are shady and I don't like to mess around with them too much. Wouldn't surprise me if they sent it back. I hope they get it straightened out and get your bike home! So is it seems that they come with 17/46 gearing, Yuasa Battery, Keihin Carb, Ngk plug? Is the Speedo accurate and in MPH? Anything else you could post up would be great! The funny thing is, I bought my Hawk when they were still 1200 bucks, and then a few months later and they are now almost 1400, even more in some cases, and the same price as the Enforcer. If it was still a couple hundred bucks cheaper, then I would still consider it a toss up since a Mikuni , jets, and sprockets is less than 100 bucks. Even a good AGM battery is only 30 to 40 bucks. At the same price though, even I would go for the Enforcer.
Chances of the speedo being accurate - low.

.
I plan to. I have new tubes and dual sport tires, a new heavy duty chain, a fork brace, and all new fluids ready. I plan on truing the wheels by adjusting the spokes, torquing and lock-tighting all the bolts that need it, and going over the electrical and mechanical systems back to front prior to calling it ready-to-ride. This is going to be cool!

I am sold!
BTW, the speedometer is in KMs on the outside (big numbers) and MPH on the inside. At night, you can not see the MPH at all. No problem, I spent 5 years of my life in other countries and got very good at multiplying KPH by .62 to get MPH for our American cars.

I'm looking forward to assembling and lock tighting all the proper bolts as recommended.
