Hello, I purchased a hawk 250 yesterday. I also went ahead and ordered several of the suggested upgrades. When looking for the o-ring chain I was unable to find the suggested "428so" so I ordered a "428mxz"... It is my understanding that it will fit, but what exactly does mxz mean? Is it worth it? Is it even an upgrade from the stock chain? There was also available a 428h, but it was cheaper, so I assumed it was lower quality.

Generally the letters signify what the chain construction is. In this case, the MXZ chain is a Motocross racing chain - basically a 428H but with even better construction.

The JT chains are really good non oring chains, so are the Unibear chains.

The length is 128 Links for a 17 tooth front and 46 tooth rear. If you plan to order those sprockets too.

I purchased 17 and 45 sprockets. From what i was reading, that combo is what i was looking for. I also read that a 130 chain is what I need for those sprockets...so, that's what I got. I'll let you know if it fits. As for the quality, I'm not really a good judge.
Thanks for all the help!

130 links will work fine for 17/45, but I found 128 works a little better, so I just took 2 links out. It puts the rear axle more in the center of the adjustment range on the swingarm. Just personal preference though.
