Does anyone know if you can remove the cable connection part? Making the choke function manually at the carb?

if you remove the cable, as long as you're able to manually flip whatever it was connected to, you should be good to go. Don't really remember how the original is set up to be honest.

Best thing to do is just to buy a VM22 and slap that thing on.

It has a spring on it, so it was returns to the closed portion. I haven't fiddled with it yet, so maybe i can figure something out. Ya i have a vm22 but just wanted to use this on another project.

There are a couple parts you need to make the change. A spring plate, choke lever with a ball for the ball detent.
