this is mine. 1987 Larson with untold hours on the motor. it's much like my Hawk. old technology. takes a bit of time and maintenance to keep it running. enjoy the heck out of it except when I have to fix something. :D

PS...the dogs love going to the lake too!

I had a 1987 Renken boat with the 130 OMC. That 3.0 GM has to be the best little engine they ever made. Very fuel efficient and was perfect for water skiing. Had one hell of a hole shot. This is not my boat but same. BTW Nice Boat

I have two boats. My bass boat is a 2000 Express that I bought brand new and have used the heck out of it. My other boat is a 1990 26' Bayliner that we stay on for weeks at time

I always liked the Express hulls. If I ever decided to get back into fishing that what I would be looking for.

Had a 1987 16' Sea Ray. Nice boat. It was a love/hate relationship.

Loved the gals sunbathing on it.
Loved the striper fishing, boat camping and dragging skiers.
Hated the cost of launch fees, gas for two rigs, food and drinks.
Hated getting home to spend hours cleaning everyones mess and really hated it when it got stolen.

perhaps the title of this thread should have been "Who has a hole in the water they throw money into?". That's a more accurate description. :D

we have plenty of public boat ramps, and the lake is close to town, so my fuel costs are only what the boat sucks up while on the water. that's 4 bucks a gallon for non-ethanol these days. Mine has a 3.7 liter mercruiser on it, so not all that bad on gas. would be even better if I tuned the carb like it probably needs. my Larson is a deep V hull, so it takes all the 3.7 has. I need the deep V because the lake here is large and a lot of big boats run it, which means lots of big wakes from them. a smaller boat would get tossed all over the place. I tried it with a 17 foot Sunbird. no fun!

I have an Indian Brand 15’ canoe, if that counts. Well then technically I have a boat too. A canoe with an old 3hp Sears Game fisher.

Back in the early 90's My wife told me she had a friend that had a boat for sale for $500. I'm thinking to myself, it can't be much for $500. Well I went and take a look at it. It was a 20' Browning tri hull. Look like a huge barge. lol So I started looking at the motor. It was a 1973 135 Johnson that look like it had never been used. I pulled the cover and was like brand new. I looked at the hour meter and had 23 hours on it. Come to find out The guys son had bought the boat and only used it a few times then had to leave to work overseas for a few years. So boat had just been sitting there for years but the old man would run it once a month on a hose. Needless to say I bought it and it came with a 25hp Johnson kicker. I bought it for the motors and trailer because the hull had rotted.
If anybody knows anything about Outboards here's a little history on the 1973 Evinrude & Johnson 135 HP. The 135hp was introduced in 1973 in order to compete with Mercury's 125hp. This particular 135 was only made for one year and was a high compression racing engine. It required 96 octane fuel minimum. I new this and wasn't letting it slip away. The engine block was just about bullet proof and is still used today by some racers in the V-4 class.:D Well this put all kinds of ideas in my head. This was back in I didn't give a damn days lol. So this started my boat racing days. I ended up putting it on a 15' Hydra Sport bass boat that was only rated for 75hp that I gutted out for weight reduction. I decked the heads for more compression, ported and opened up the exhaust. Had to replace the starter with a high torque starter to turn it over lol. I ran C10 racing fuel with octane booster. We guesstimated at about 200hp. Had a hydraulic jack plate and spun a 28 pitch chopper wheel about 8500 rpms.
I was racing in the V-4 drag boat class. That's was about all it was good for was going strait at high speeds. Well lets just say it was a kick in the but to drive. :yay: Don't know how I survived those days without killing myself. I did have one of my buddies flip his boat at over 110 mph. He survived but had broken ribs, punctured lung and bruises all over his body. He spent a few weeks in the hospital but he continued on racing.
But for some strange reason I wish I still had that boat.

Those bumper boats are fun in a lake. A friend bought about a dozen of them when an amusement center closed down near us. They are damn near impossible to sink. The ones he had actually had a hull and the tube part was just a rubber cover with foam behind it.

Oh, I have a 10 foot Ted Williams Gamefisher jonboat and matching 5hp motor. Both are dead and in the aluminum scrap pile.
